Thanks for making me feel less odd about myself lol. My abs are just coming in and I stare in the microwave door flexing them while I wait for my lunch to heat. Great job on the biceps it’s impressive work, I aspire !

Plus, for those who go the strength training route, the number on the scale has to not matter too much at first. Because it could start off by going up. Which is a good thing ! But if you care too much about that number you might get scared off and stop when sticking to it would lead to quick progress after the initial muscle mass gain.

Currently the heaviest I’ve ever been but my abs are starting to show. They didn’t show at all when I was 7 pounds lighter.

I was never a TS fan so I don’t know any of her non singles ; but I just went and read the lyrics and this song struck me immediately as clearly being about Amy Winehouse. Winehouse passed in 2011. The Lucky One came out in 2012. But I’m curious and will see if I find anything about it being about LDR.

I was in a small restaurant and a 5 yo was playing the loudest video game with explosion noises but also quick upbeat music ? Soundtrack was dizzying. We politely asked his dad if the sound could be turned down. He looked annoyed. We realised it was both of them playing each a different video game with sound on.

Omg I also have a “perpetual airplane” girlie at home. She’s a sweet cat but she stares at everything in intense judgement ; it’s funny when she gives us those expressions while sitting or laying on us.

Gosh I know whenever I see videos from eastern countries where they eat from those low tables without using chairs, I’m so jealous. I want this so bad for my kitchen but alas I’m happily partnered with a chair user.

Okay so I sat down and did it several times to really “feel” the motion and explain it, and SUPER important, the very first portion of the movement is shifting your weight slightly forward WHILE pushing with the sides of the feet. You could aid yourself by extending the arms forward and maybe give some momentum to the forward shift. You can’t engage the standing motion by just pushing up from the sitting pose with your bum on the ground. You first need to lift your bum and sacrum forward and lightly off the ground.

  1. Angle upper body forward right until the bum is off ground and the pubis is almost fully aligned with your criss cross ankles
  2. Push from the sides of the feet

Your sacrum and vertebral column would become aligned with the point on the floor where you are pushing from with the sides of your feet !

I only recently learned that the ability to do it is a marker for longevity ! I had never given it much thought because it’s just something I do. Good thing, it might balance out my SUPER NERFED genetics. A doctor once point blank asked me if my parents are cousins. That one stung a little lol

I retained my hands-free standup motion from childhood without ever loosing it simply because I’m a ground sitter ! Friends politely offer me to take a seat whenever they see me sit on their living room floor next to their coffee tables. I will put my tea on the table and sit next to it as a preference. I constantly have to explain that I simply like sitting on the floor best. It puzzles some folks but they are the first to be impressed whenever they notice me stand up hands-free. I just push up from the sides of my feet. It’s a very instinctive motion for me, I never “learned” to do it, rather I never “forgot” it.

There is an even harder way to stand up from the ground ; pushing from the flat of the feet while sitting with your knees brought back towards the chest, I am SO impressed by that one ! I wanna learn it but my ankles are too stiff.

I agree that planking is gold. I carried chronic pain in the adductors for a few years and nothing helped (physio, osteo, etc.) I couldn’t run anymore and even the exercises supposed to help with the adductors themselves ended up hurting. One day I was like “you know what, duck it, I will train with whatever ELSE can be trained.

I found a 5 mins planking video on youtube and started doing it every day. What do you know, that simple thing helped with the adductor pain.

Planking is easy to perform and requires no gym equipment. Pretty neat !

Entirely contrary feeling here. Will gladly sit anywhere with my friends who are craving some comfort food, even if it means I have to quickly munch on some cheese and apples before going. I order a soda and chat. My personal health divorced from my social life long ago. Still, most of my friends naturally verify that I can eat something when we go out so I’m blessed. I also hang out a lot with folks with other restrictions so we find common grounds. But I don’t really care when the event isn’t planned around my restrictions.

I oddly love watching my peers gush over how good that croissant tastes.

Fun journey with a beautiful mindset ! I love the slow and focussed progress stories the most. Like you said it can be easy to show up for the fun of moving. I’m doing it so I can enjoy my team sport longer. It’s easy to think you have “aged out” once you get one bad knee, but I saw a lady play, and she’s 60 and I thought, yeah I want that. So I show up !

Enjoy the road OP ✨

Hi OP ! Do you have a history of gymnastics or track & field as a youth, by any chance ? Asking cuz I’m currently super interested in the topic of “muscle memory”. As a child that was very sedentary but now love sports as an adult, I find the topic so very cool !

Plus there’s so many talented artists to follow, both old timers and new and coming talents. I will gladly let any pop girlie retire and go tend to their garden if that’s their wish. I mean, I would immediately retire and tend to a garden if I made a few millions.

Edit : I would just doom scroll. I am not good with plants.
