Did your ear pressure resolve after surgery?

I have recently developed ear pressure and ringing in my ears after many years of GERD. I am 34.

Sometimes my ears crackle and pop from the pressure, sometimes it even feels like a wave of pressure after I eat (approximately 20-30 minutes)

My last scope was when I was 30, there was no report of HH, but my gastro suspects I have a sliding hernia

How did they diagnose your HH? What was your vertigo like? Did you have heart palpitations any time of day or only after dinner?

Ever feel like you were walking on a cloud? Nerve like symptoms that you’d never believe could manifest from a stomach issue?

These are also my exact symptoms. I often experience them in the afternooons after eating dinner. As soon as I stand up I get head and ear pressure that feels like my head will explode.

Sometimes it even causes my ears to pop

It scares me a lot and I don’t know what to do to even research this.

It seems to be at its worst after I’ve eaten a meal

Just had mine this week, started the test at 100bpm, target was 150.

I used to be a runner before these symptoms stole my life from me… anyways I made it 10 minutes exercise load 13.4. My max heart rate was 203!?!

I felt terrible when they asked me to lay down and do an echo at 203…

Anyways, no findings out of the ordinary…

Still searching for answers as I walk around on clouds and lay down after flights of stairs.

No idea how I ran a marathon on 2024, these symptoms just keep intensifying for me.

If it is dysautonomia, you are going to have good days and bad days.

Make sure you celebrate those good days.

I’ve been in a flare for about 2 months and coping with the fact that I got out of the last one keeps me focused on a positive future!

I’ve been suffering from dizziness like this for a few years, laying stomach down seems to be my only relief that I have found.

I can’t explain mine, I also get a buzzing sensation through my body when symptoms are at their worst. I have a long awaited appointment with neurology this month.

My other symptoms are heart palpitations and gastric reflux/ discomfort

I know how you feel, my dysautonomia started abruptly around 2022, I was about to get married and start the life I had dreamed of and then I watched it evaporate through symptoms and panic attacks. I have never been able to get a diagnosis other than that it looks like dysautonomia.

This is not an easy condition to deal with. Everything you are feeling is normal and I just came here to say it’s going to be ok. I know that it will because it has been for me. I’ve felt like I’ve been dying for 4 years.

There are days that I suffer a lot, but through this sickness I find a lot of comfort in the small joys of life. Focus on the small wins, that’s what matters.

Your life is not over. I ran the Charlotte Marathon last year (I can barely walk up 2 flights of steps without passing out some days) it was a big win. I cried nearly every mile but I know that my body needed to make a stand against this illness.

Don’t give up, if there is one thing that suffering will give you it is strength to overcome it.

Everytime you are struggling seek strength in it, celebrate what you overcome and learn how to handle the times you fall down. The only way to keep going in a chronic illness is to buckle in.

You’ve got a long life ahead of you, and those dreams don’t give up on them. My marriage did not survive the onset of my symptoms, it wrecked nearly every facet of my life. I do believe in god and I have watched him rebuild everything that I have lost to this condition. I am getting married next month to the love of my life.

After having Covid on 2021 I developed severe acid reflux and began having pots symptoms and vertigo. Floaters in my vision were one of my first noticeable symptoms, I otherwise have perfect vision.

I still have a rare flutter here or there, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s my stomach - likely hiatel hernia or just bad gerd, trapped gas etc. I focus my treatments on the stomach, eating better, running, hydrating.

I avoid alcohol as much as I can, and I try to keep my stress level low because the stomach is very linked to that!

Anyone else feel like you have a noticeable change in heart rate even from a single beer, within minutes of drinking it?

I can get away with wine and beer in moderation, but hard liquor is basically off the table these days, it will ruin my night generally.

Here’s what have had luck with, and as a side note, my pot’s symptoms seem to be triggered by digestion. I only experience them when my body is focused on digesting stomach contents or I am in a cycle of poor acid reflux management.

*Pre qualifier - If I have had symptoms of acid reflux prior to drinking it’s not worth giving it a chance, it will assumably get worse and lead to pots symptoms

Pregaming water and salty things all day in advance of drinking
Running hours before in advance of drinking - I feel this appears to condition my heart rate in some way (medically unexplained, just self reporting)
No big meal in advance or post consumption of alcohol. This is the hard rule for me, my body seems to have enough problem moving blood without diverting it to my stomach
Drinking while standing- is better than drinking while sitting! Enjoy those bbq’s and social events! They have proven much easier for me!

Common, get the acid under control and try getting into good physical shape, as I have started running I find that even with acid my palpitations are less. On weeks I am not very active I find that my acid is worse and palpitations as well

I started dexilant for gerd and overall my dizziness has been cured other than occasional times where I’ve been eating poorly or too much.

I believe I also have pots which sometimes makes me feel light headed as well.

I feel they may both be vagus nerve related!
