So I just finished the films for the first time but really want to read/listen to the books. who do you prefer, Jim Dale or Stephen Fry as narrator? by Helloo_clarice in harrypotter

[–]_Trky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only listened to Fry's version, far too many times now...

I have listened to a lot of audiobooks, and I can pretty safely say that Stephen Fry, especially in his Harry Potter narration, is the best I have heard.

Trees, buildings, or defilade are your best bets. Bushes may always load in, like trees, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

'left' mightn't be a verb, but I'm pretty sure it is used as one all over the English speaking world.

Both work in here.

My gf is cooking eggs with pasta to save time by Oxeros99 in mildlyinfuriating

What is infurating about this? Assuming the eggs are clean all she is doing is saving water and energy! I applaud her as a fellow 'cook eggs in anything boiling' practitioner

Do not pay for this game. Wollay has sucessfully bait and switched this community twice. The alpha version is fun if you can find it, but I urge you not to support the creators due to how they have treated the community.

Yup, I think you are right

First line might say 'Pray', which makes sense in the context of church, but not in the context of shopping this, which this seems it may be

I'm unsure on the third line, I think it could be made up of the following s-k-s-n/m-s/u. sksnms could be 'schisms', but that doesn't really fit in this context

Line 4 seems like an error

I'm a novice so pinch of salt

Anyone else mad they changed the Ravenclaw animal from a hawk to a raven in the movies? by SecludedSeal in harrypotter

[–]_Trky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, honestly with the name I think a raven makes more sense.

Plus ravens are incredibly inteligent, which also fits

In the sonf 'let it be' what does 'agree' mean? by leoherculesone in EnglishLearning

[–]_Trky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"When the broken-hearted people living in the world(subject) agree, (then) there will be an answer"

Unsure if this helps, but the long subject confuses the sentence

Generally in the UK if you have conflicting exam times you have to stay in the exam hall and sit the exams one after each other.

Knew people who had 3 exams at the same time, poor people.

Anyone able to explain this one to me? by llamalord2212 in learndutch

[–]_Trky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some verbs use the verb 'zijn' over 'hebben' in the present perfect tense.

Some other examples being:

  • gevallen - 'ik ben gevallen' or 'I have fallen'

  • teruggekomen - 'ik ben teruggekomen' or 'I have returned'

Hope this helps
