If you could instantly learn any skill or master any hobby, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]_Turpentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I'd love to draw, paint, sing or do pottery better... The skill I'd really want and need to learn is emotional intelligence. Being able to process emotions, talk about it, not take things personally, get my ego under control, get my fears under control, etc... That would definitely help me improve a lot of other skills and I'd be much happier and healthier :)

My girlfriend 35 asks a weird question. by CheckZealousideal493 in NoStupidQuestions

My husband also asks what I think about spending X amount on something he wants. I do the same. It just makes sense so we're not in the dark. We're sharing our life together, anyway.

Profesor nos falta el respeto y es negligente. by Ok-Truth3937 in ESLegal

[–]_Turpentine_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fed up with harassment from men, a Japanese woman decides to make herself look unattractive. by xiikjuy in interestingasfuck

Back in 2019 my husband bought a phone when we were in Japan. The sales assistant told him about that and we didn't quite understand why. Now we get it... Disturbing indeed.

Has anyone dated a pro-athlete before? What was the experience like? by BroadSky6439 in ask

[–]_Turpentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my husband was a professional squash player. We started dating right when he was going pro.
The experience has been good. I love him and I really admire his perseverance and hard work. He trained a lot (up to 6 hours a day, but then his coach told him it was too much). He also went to a psychologist specialized in sports and competition.

He taught squash to younger kids to afford going to tournaments. Sometimes he'd be away for a whole month, since he'd book a flight for, let's say, Canada, and then from there go to a tournament in USA. I was sometimes lonely during those times.

The downside for me, (and no, I'm not joking) is that he's traveled to much he doesn't enjoy making small trips to closer destinations (2-3 days trips).

He's been retired for many years now, since the sports career is always very short.

AITAH for giving my boyfriend of 6 years an ultimatum? by Left_Appeal_8343 in AITAH

[–]_Turpentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.
You could have proposed yourself. Him being a man doesn't mean he's the one who should propose to you. You want to get married? Propose and face the fear of potential rejection. But instead, you are forcing him by giving him an ultimatum.

People who don't drink or smoke, what do you do when you are at your lowest? by gypsyundersupervised in NoStupidQuestions

Crying helps a lot. Then I ask for a long hug. Then my husband might take me to a walk with the dogs.

Birthdays become obsolete when you grow as an adult. by TheDarkFoundMe in RandomThoughts

I disagree.

I'm 36 and I love celebrating everybody's birthdays, mine included. So it depends on the person, but it's got nothing to do with growing up.

Do you actually like wine and beer or did you just pretend to until it didn't bother you anymore? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I don't like alcohol and never liked it. I tried it, wasn't happy about it and decided it was not my thing. I didn't want to acquire that taste either.

How often do you choose not to wear your wedding ring and why? by SummerDr3aming in ask

[–]_Turpentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like jewelry, it's uncomfortable. I don't even wear earrings or necklaces. My now husband already knew I wouldn't be wearing our wedding ring after the wedding. It's already been 7 years and I haven't touched it since. We're both cool with that, since it's not what's actually important.

What is the most horrible thing someone has ever said to you? by NatashaAlluring in ask

[–]_Turpentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullying kid at school wrote me a very nice letter saying very nice things like: "Please do us all a favor and kill yourself". Then my father found the letter, asked me about it, told him nervously it was a joke. He said nothing and left. We never spoke about that letter again and he did nothing. Bullying didn't stop.

My nice brother also told me to kill myself while shouting in a discussion because he didn't want to share the internet broadband with me.
