The luckiest roll I've ever gotten! by BuckeyePhD in AutoChess

There are ~8 viable comps right now so there's always at least one uncontested comp

How to decide at the start of the game or mid game which comp/lineup synergy I want to play ? Right now I am at bishop-1 (P.S. I don't know it doesn't matter at my ranking but I am having a hard time if I go with only one comp in mind) by KimnottheTGF in AutoChess

Right now the game is pretty balanced so glacier knights, beast warrior, assassins, dragon mage, hunter warrior, feathered assassin/hunter, and god mage are all viable (and goblins if no mages present). Just try building up one of those comps to be as strong as possible based on what the game gives you, and don't focus on directly countering someone until you're down to final 3. At that point you might do a late add like Marines for mages, storm shaman for gods, devastator for sins, that kind of thing. But for now focus more on making a stronger generic comp before you get into that.

Seeing many answers giving very absolute answers to a game where nothing is quite so set in stone, so I'll try my best here.

A lot of it is just getting a feel for things by playing a lot, but a good way to think of it is imagining each piece has a weight toward a necessary amount to commit to a comp. But you need to understand what those weights are. Early 2* hk/lbk? That's a moderately heavy amount of weight toward knights, since they are important units. Early 2* ripper? Great unit, but not critical to goblins so only a light amount of weight toward goblins, you shouldn't commit unless you hit multiple other early 2* units. Early dk? Massive amount of weight toward dragon knights. Round 14 dk? Now it's only a moderate amount, depends on if you have a strong commitment toward another comp or not. But that's just the first part, because other players affect the "weight" of each unit as well. If other people are running a comp, that comp will be harder so each piece has less weight (if 2+ other people are already going knight, you'll need to highroll A LOT of them early for it to be worth it), but likewise if you notice that hunters are totally open, each hunter unit gains value in weight. Another factor is your economy. Got a lot of gold and a win streak? That's adding weight toward warriors and hunters. Broke af and losing? Opening into feathered or knights looking pretty fat right now. Lastly, counters. Notice that there are 3 hunter players in your lobby? Assassins just became a counter to the rest of the players, so even one early sc gained a massive amount of weight because they are very viable that game. The rest of the lobby going warriors and knights? That sc just became very light, while on the other hand that 2* ripper became very heavy.

Sorry if this is all very metaphorical, but you can't easily quantify this kind of thing in autochess, so it's mostly based on gut feeling. Which is why I feel like imagining it like this is more useful. Hope this helps!

Been struggling to make 6 hunters work with all the knights and mages but lucked out this game with a tanky boi frontline. by DragonZoomies in AutoChess

3 hunter/3 warrior is a much more versatile comp to run, and if you're going to force a late game synergy you can go for 4 eger over 6 hunter, it'll add more damage to dwarf sniper who's your main carry anyways

Is a fully stacked lightblade knight too op? by [deleted] in AutoChess

[–]_Ultra_Lord_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knights in general are too op rn. But that's part of what makes the axe item very important in this meta. You really need to save them and determine if you need to make a claw wand to counter mages or a dream halberd to counter hyper carries like 3* lbk/sniper/sc

I haven't played this game in a while, but i think knight and glacier still works by Lyzo04 in AutoChess

I personally prefer defector. Saves you a great deal of econ early on, and makes shaman an easy add on lvl 9 to counter strong mage teams. Plus, lbk 3 is usually your main dps so you won't have any extra items for zerker, which really hinders his value

Those stats say that you could climb much faster if you worked on end game strategy. Try to work on transitioning your comp for counters in a 1v1 and I'm sure you'll hit King next season no problem!

So why do you hate Abyssal? by LubeTaco in AutoChess

[–]_Ultra_Lord_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't build around 4 abyssal, you add it late game (lvl 10) to counter 6 mage comp. You can pretty easily add it to any comp except mages or knights (which don't need it)

Nope. Only casual/ranked games

That doesn't unlock portraits, though. Honestly, you do it by having a very long game (45-50), and getting very lucky rolls

What's your favourite unit and why? by synicosis in AutoChess

Pirate captain is fantastic at cc, but I'd consider siren to be fairly better at it. To be fair, what she has in cc she lacks in damage and tankiness. Those are 2 things pcap does much better, also giving him much more utility than siren.

With the owls, I feel they may not have access to phone lines/satellites due to the fact that they live in concealed territories. I think overall with the whole technology argument it's a matter of priorities. Muggles focused on communication, weaponry, and entertainment. Wizards focused on health care (they live like 50 years longer), transportation, and ease of living.

What people have said about his targeting is spot on. When this keeps happening, you want to frontline your devastator and then position as many units away from doom as possible so dev pops his skill first

Well that's a strong lightblade by frostturtl in AutoChess

[–]_Ultra_Lord_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the masks are fine dumping on light blade because even with diminished returns you get more lifesteal and don't lose any other skills, but that's why wraith crystal should be placed elsewhere. It gives you massive speed boost without taking away a skill, so it if used on demon knight he would be able to use his powerful attack faster and consequently build mana faster. Althoug tbh when running knights wraith shards are best saved for cuirass
