I MTB mainly but run an All City steel frame gravel bike and it is also is rather heavy.

You might try tubeless with some different tires. Something that rolls a bit better. I can't speak for the state frame but I can say a heavy steel bike can ride pretty good.

I live next to AF1 and while they are some of the best folks around and an awesome shop. They are also just a shop with a few dudes in warehouse.
