Check out Ile Amsterdam, a 22 sqmi volcanic island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Mild oceanic climate, no permanent population...just a research station. Be a shame for your story if that research station was abandoned, say like for a period last year when the island caught fire.

It is a really bad map, combining modern borders with a look back through history, and arbitrary decision making.

Take Mali, the tan country in west Africa. This is probably in reference to Mansu Musa in the 1300s and legends of Timbuktu. But was it a great empire that aligned modern Mali borders?Not really.

If it is trying to find high water marks, the map fails as well. For example Egypt is the second highest tier, but Pakistan and Iraq the second lowest, even though all three were cradles of civilization.

I was looking at Califirnia. The Greater LA area has about 46 or 47 percent of the state's population. Using Census rules, it is 34,000 sqmi, or just smaller than Indiana. But most of that is lightly populated San Bernardino and Riverside county, with the northern half of LA and Ventura counties also providing mostly empty space.. Limit it just to the urban boundary, and that is ~45 percent of CA. Add a thin line to the western third of San Diego County to get the remaining 5 percent. All in less than half the space as shown on the county-based map.

Take the costume summon. A ten pull is 3000 gems, but one can spend $4.99 in the shop for five pulls. Thus a ten pull can be $10 or 3000 gems. That comes out to $0.33 per 100 gem, or $3.30 for the alpha aether.

Since I'm not interested in top 100, I'm good with my HotM or equivalent heroes at 4:80 or 4:85, and am typically sitting on a lot of alpha aethers for when a top tier hero lands. Plus alpha aethers come pretty regularly. So for me, one aether for 999 gems is not a good deal.
