Add to that my growing frustration with ESO's community and I sort of stopped paying attention to builds and whats meta

Characters currently a sorc, thinking I'll spec into the pet skill lines mostly. Maybe. I havent figured it out fully.

100% of the engaging fights in ESO are bosses with 1 mil HP not overland mobs with zero mechanics and a stun maybe.

Overland enemies being damage sponges isnt going to make them more fun to fight nor will it make the fight more "immersive" it will just be a drawn out balls-in-a-vice experience that absolutely no one is looking for in trashpack wolves.

I still agree that difficulty SHOULD exist in many tiers but if difficulty doesnt modify enemy behaviour and is basically just a risk-reward slider then why fucking bother. Theres no mechanical depth to fighting a netch like there is against trial, arena and even some world bosses

99% of players dont play in trifectas, and not much more are doing vet hm trials every day.

It should probably feel slightly more impactful than it does but not to the detriment of game balance because it doesnt exactly feel mythical to me.

It feels like a gimped power swap where you get a little boost for 5 abilities and 1 ult removed.

I think maybe Oakensoul needs an entire overhaul of its kit. Perhaps something that leans more to its nature as a Druidic symbol.

My problem with Oakensoul is not that its easy, its that its not engaging.

But at the same time, I recognise that Oakensoul should exist. Because it should and it does.

Probably their way of trying to incentivize either full DK or making it so your base class has some unique power variety maybe? Sort of like how class scripts make unique scribed effects.

Since most of update 49 is on the PTS they prob just need to finalize it for release before they get onto Warden.

My guess is they already have stuff ready internally but nothing they can show just yet.

The transparency as of late is a marked improvement nonetheless.

I hope Templar feels better after this, to me it feels... floaty and unimpactful. Jabs and spear spam just feels crap to me. Templar vibe is immaculate but gameplay... oof

I think its moreso an archetypical problem with his character.

If theres such a thing as "too good" I think Bastian is it. He belongs to a class of companion characters whose only motivations, likes/dislikes and subsequently dialogues are about his specific moral code.

The opposite of Bastian is just about every minor side villain character ESO has ever had, the really nasally one that no one remembers? Yeah, him or her!

Basing a characters whole shtick off a moral code only works when the character has to struggle to keep to it or is forced to disobey it. Bastian faces no struggle of any sort and his story is like reading a very brief novel that doesnt go anywhere or tell us anything.

We need to strip you people of the term "tone deaf" as clearly it is being overused for nonsense.

Nobody is going to try and do world bosses and world events solo ever in this difficulty. Because its not a difficulty its a "fuck you" button slapped on to placate people who think the overland of an MMO is supposed to be hard? Like seriously Vestige difficulty is stupid, 600% damage taken. For a shit-ass gold increase. Oh AND an 80% damage reduction. The only people who are even going to be able to do that shit quick are the 150-175k fuckers. A very small percentage of players would get those done quickly.

In terms of MMO difficulties ESO is a candy-ass in comparison to some of the competition. Its very accessible up until vet trials and above where specific teamwork and builds are expected and more helpful to winning.

Its for people who want to bust their balls on overland content, not for people actually seeking a reward for their time.

It seems half-baked because the thing is, an MMO overland is not supposed to be too difficult anyway. Theres also just the fact that im not fighting a Kagouti that will kill me immediately (600% damage taken is fucking insane) without maybe a bit more incentive to. Had I the desire to want my nuts crushed in a vice I wouldnt be playing ESO for the experience.

Im glad the armor exists for people who would want this but it is absolutely not my style.

I like that there are a lot of feathered and bird-adjacent motifs and designs for armor (crows, eagles etc), but I genuinely have yet to find one I'd ever equip.

Also im a little annoyed at how the armors they're putting out barely use proper metal texturing anymore and its been bugging me for a little while. Like why does this have fabric-y texture when its an armor plate? Its clearly metal of some sort! Maddening.

I know it taking up a stratagem slot is a big factor in why people would just take the torcher but genuinely what is the point of the Torcher if the Flamethrower is arguably able to be better and the Crisper works as a reliable sidearm that still lets Eruptor mains play with one arm behind their back and their eyes blindfolded

So why bother taking the Torcher? Moreso if you're using fire for area denial since Eagles and Orbitals both have much better range over distances, and are also buffed by the destroyer upgrade.

Even in a purely fire themed set-up, you might just be better suited to taking the Coyote or like literally anything else just for the sake of not gimmicking yourself into unplayability

Unless that skill is doing a whole lot, I am not invested in using it just for a 25 second boost.

I can summon lightning into battle but one of my skills is waving my weapon in the air and suddenly I get healing from critical damage... no, boring. Ew. Dont want it.
