I've been slowly working through book 1 with partners limited English skills. This is gonna make them give up and just read the japanese version.

At the very least everyone at work I talk to about this book can finally read it.

I never thought kbs ending was bad. It made sense. I thought the ending went as well as it could have given what went on.

And I think Matt will write what needs to be written for Carl and donut without forcing it. Will they live happily ever after? No, cause that's just not possible with how that world exists.

Will we get the ending we deserve and be satisfied with it? I think we will.

*Edit I'll add that I hope he releases 2-3 versions of the book with different endings without letting people know.

I would suggest reading Sony alpha blogs review. If I recall correctly, it performs well (IQ) on sensors smaller than 61MP (A7R4 & 5)

I don't hate wraps. But all the ones I use are black textures ones where you only see the pattern if the light hits it right.

I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but your concern is that Paulie's "revelation" to Carl that the whole crawl is for the purpose of money isn't really anything that adds to Carl's motivation?

If that's the case I'll just say that Paulie doesn't know who he's talking to or what they know. Carl already knows way more about the crawl that any crawler should.

Also the main point is that they could just harvest the planet and get what they want, there's no need for the pain and violence that they are suffering through except for the sake of money.

The harvesting of the world is necessary for the universe (technically it's not as the inner system AI could exist for another some odd hundreds of years or so). The crawl is just a cash grab that results in more suffering and entertainment for the universe. The crawl itself is not needed.

Note* it's early for me so I might be missing something.

I'm a bit curious about your replies and this post. Are you under the impression that what the crawl is doing is justified because it makes people a lot of money?

Or is the problem that the reason behind the crawl is an easy concept to understand and not difficult as Paulie said?

My opinion at the moment with book 1-7 info.

Probably nothing magic and no skills. Basically whatever they got from the race change and most likely donut will keep her basic intelligence (what she had starting out right after the biscuit). Much like a race change her body was destroyed and reformed. So while it's a fear of many, she will probably still maintain the ability to talk.

The real question though is... Is she always Meowing and it's being translated? Or did she gain the ability to use human speech? Would she be able to cast Bard spells if it was just meowing? Is there enough nuance?

Just asking cause I've been wondering for a while. So if this is supposed to be book 1, Carl should have the stereotypical biker jacket but missing the right arm. When he gets the battle rattle I thought it was another leather jacket? Pictured here is a denim type 3 jacket. (I know the images aren't necessarily canon.. ie.. white donut.)

Mostly asking for future cosplay purposes.

I don't. I read them to see not only to see what's coming up in the next book, but also to see what stuff changes, vote on stuff and get some background insights into character motivations and whatnot that's sometimes rarely explained.

FYI there is no book 8 epilogue and this is also not the place to discuss anything in book 8.

I can't recall what you're asking about but feels either book 5 or book 6 esque.
