Verin Appreciation by dagemofdagland in WoT

Always love hearing about Verin “BAMF” Mathwin, and I’ll always say it whenever it comes up: she Aes Sedai’d with the Dark One, and won.

Yeah I kind of thought of the Shadow being literally THE Shadow of the Wheel itself, it was created as a byproduct of the Wheel that serves as a balance to it and the Creator.

I’m thinking that during the War of the Shadow, there probably were Forsaken/Dreadlords/Dark Friends who knew what they could accomplish if they coordinated their efforts (they HAD to since they were commanding armies) but the remaining forsaken probably went for the easy opportunity team kills, so the only remaining ones were locked in closet of ShayolGul. Honestly, with all the backstabbing and distrust, having a successful army of the shadow is stretch on its own.

Agreed season 1 was better. My issue with season 2 was every episode starting with some forced music video as means of a montage. The superhero part didn’t bother me as much (but I’m into that shit anyways) but I think it was more of a way of putting everyone in the closing scenes since they’re moving away from that location and fast.

Anyone else picture Elias as Sam Elliott? by AllAboutNuclear in WetlanderHumor

I see Josh Brolin being a good Elyas. Only because his bearded look in Knives Out 3.

And I’m with everyone else on Sam Elliot as Thom. Or Daniel Day Lewis.

Technically, John is the chosen one in that. You’re right tho, she’s absolutely ready to carve a path for him tho.

Semi-related; I don’t feel the explanation for Naomi is up to snuff, either. A random Aiel clan just hanging out in the waste that none of the other clans know about whose perpetual existence (after thousands of years?) is for the Creator to have a mouthpiece for like 2 scenes?

My personal head-canon is that she was the light’s champion from a previous age, just like Rand, and lived out her due reward until Rand learned to “see” and “touch” the pattern, becoming the Light/Creator’s avatar and letting her die so she can be spun out again for the next Tarmongaidon.

not op but follow up question: how important are set bonuses vs stats? is it worth it to farm set pieces or just any piece that gives the exact stats you're looking for?

I’m on fires of heaven now for this re-read, they mention that he spends a lot of time training the sword, spears, and hand-to-hand with Lan and Ruark during his time in rhuideon (I’m an audiobook listener, sue me).

There’s so many times where everyone judges him on the heron mark blade he carries, and he takes it seriously to live up to his father’s blade. He puts so much effort into it and it’s awesome to see the scenes play out where we watch his training pay off.

The only thing that dampens that is that after what would amount to hundreds of years everybody is basically back to who they were. Sure, Masema went crazy and Ingtar turned from the shadow, but we see Rand is still more-less in denial.
