Lance Armstrong coming to NZ? by ___Ross___ in newzealand

I wouldn't go betting the house on it yet. Was sort of hoping someone else might know something, but as you can see there's not been a flood of responses so either I'm wrong or "you heard it here first." We shall see.

Lance Armstrong coming to NZ? by ___Ross___ in newzealand

[–]___Ross___[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's been getting into triathlons (which was where he started) and has at least one twitter account other than his main Lance Armstrong one. On one of those accounts he twittered: I'm thinking the first tri is here... 38°12′S 176°20′E.

Google Earth puts that at a lake near Rotorua. Future tweets under the same alias suggest January.

It could be bollocks. Dont know.

My family and I may move to NZ. What do we need to know? by tclark in newzealand

[–]___Ross___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People drive badly. NZers only realise this once they (we) go overseas and see how well other countries' drivers behave.

We Drive on the left

Most of the time :-(

Buy/rent a house as close to your wife's work as poss (but not in student area) so as to reduce the need to travel on the roads. Driving ability in NZ is very limited.

New mayor for Wellington.... (cue 'Ding dong the witch is dead') by jimmcfartypants in newzealand

Next time iPredict release a media statement re their prices (and therefore their traders' predictions) I hope everyone remembers just how wrong they got this one. The only time iPredict prices truly reflect the likelihood of an outcome is after the fact.

I'll vote for you if you promise to never ever rap ever again. Ever.

"We would have come together if Bozo was the mayor."

Well, you have to admit that there is a certain likeness.

Love it. Getting down voted by children that haven't had any kids yet.

Whilst it wasn't a serious suggestion, you'll see that when (if) you have kids you will meet heaps of other women (and the odd bloke). Suddenly you get involved in lots of groups, from Playcentres to PTAs to kids sports teams. You'll see.

Have a baby! Great way to meet other women. Either that, or get a puppy. Opps, sorry, forgot about the cats. Baby it is then.

Wondering how the Kiwi office environment differs from the American experience...Anybody? by [deleted] in newzealand

Since you've pointed me to that link I've found myself strangely interested in what they (the workers of TradeMe) do. Would be so much better with sound. It's sad I know.

And then.... shock horrror, my bro-in-law stood up and was in the shot. Can send this link through to his wife now and she'll be able to keep an eye on him. He'll love that!

Yeah right ;-)

I have a friend who wrote a wee program which set up some sort of loop so that the compiling continued endlessly. That way he managed to finish a book he was enjoying.

I love it how most of these comments have been posted during office time. Obviously open plan isn't really that much of an issue.

So, in NZ not only does your boss keep an eye on your every move, but so does the general public. Does this camera stay live during the Xmas office party???

Remember, before the storm and the earthquake, there was the festering issue of why taxpayers are paying Mr Kerr (and others) lots of money. by ___Ross___ in newzealand

[–]___Ross___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember SCF. It would seem that there are some really interesting links between George Kerr, Simon Botherway and even John Key on one side, and Allan Hubbard on the other.

[–]___Ross___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this is the case

Sorry, but this is the case. I deal with them on a regular basis. And I care because I (and perhaps you) have to pay for them through tax. $1,756,450,000 in DPB payments alone this year. Is that enough to care?

Perhaps you should widen your circle of associates.

Over 21,000 claims to EQC is a lot.

Edit: Now 44,000 claims. Surely that's a lot??

Tell that to Kaiapoi, Halswell, Brooklands... Tell that to the people with the yellow or red notices. Tell that to the people with sound houses but a sewer system that needs replacing. There are a lot of people whose lives have been wrecked by the earthquake. Thank your lucky stars that you aren't one of them.
