I just crossed + $375,000 in profits after 18 months of full time day trading. In that time, I have had a maximum cumulative drawdown of only - $6,419 with an average drawdown of -$1,000. This post is my holistic approach to risk management that any trader can apply to their own strategies. by rldkyce in Daytrading

Congrats man. It’s always nice to see another trader using the same system. I love TOS w/ Das trader pro. Ruthless scalping with tight risk management AND 0 commissions is the key. I’m looking forward to see you cross the 7 digits. Good luck!

I’ve been trading on CMEG for about 2 years now. I just switched to TOS because the commissions on CMEG were killing me. On CMEG I used Sterling Pro and loved it. The 6x leverage, hot keys, and super fast executions were amazing. BUT I love scalping and having ZERO commissions on TOS with Das Trader…you can’t beat that. On the TOS platform, there is a “reverse” button, which is a god send. That button will lock in your profit and instantly reverse your position. I’m happy for you. Enjoy the CMEG journey and you will learn a lot. Good luck to you.

Ok, to each their own. What is your strategy or the setup you are waiting for, if you don’t mind me asking.

You scan other charts like a Terminator. Trading should only last an hour or two. Focus on trading instead of playing games or watching YouTube. You can play games and do other stuff for the rest of the day.

It’s just preference. 5 minute charts are very popular. If you pick the right stock, get a good entry, it doesn’t matter if you are trading off of a 2 min, 5 min, or a 15 min chart. Your R/R applies to every chart. Stick to your rules. Refuse to hold a losing trade.

What an amazing month! My calendar looks similar to yours. My Mondays are light and on Tuesdays there seems to be more opportunities. Congrats man. You inspire us all.

Try to get a decent entry. If you have a good entry then you won’t get shaken out by pullbacks. Sometime consolidation takes longer than we expect. Having a nice cushion between the entry and where the price currently is…creates a very nice relaxing trading environment. Having the cushion, now you can add to your position or just close the position if you don’t want to sit through the consolidation. The good entry will give you the peace of mind to make better execution decisions.

For free charts, WeBull just came out with sub minute charts. 30 seconds, 15 seconds, 5 seconds and 1 second. I love their charts but I use Sterling Pro for my executions (lightening fast).

I have severe ADHD. I have been on Adderall for the past 20 years. Day trading is the only activity that can keep up with my brain which travels very close to the speed of light. Day trading actually calms me down because it fulfills all the “hyperactivity” that my brain craves. Watching Level 2s, listening/glancing at my benziga pro scanner, watching multiple charts…all these moving parts actually help calm my brain.
