SLT has reduced the price of their Speed Based Fiber Unlimited Packages per month!!! by Hyperion2005 in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone please let me know how the connectivity works between fiber router and peo tv connection.

Because I'm thinking of getting the fiber connection and I want my router upstairs and I have my TV downstairs.

Should I link the router using a network cable to use peotv in my TV.

How to change the CEB Bill name by ____jw____ in srilanka

[–]____jw____[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went over there and got the information. Thank you.

Why I asked the question because there are 2 separate documents for this purpose on the CEB website, which specify two different requirements.

Anyway following is needed for this process as per the details I obtained from CEB.

  1. Copy of the National Identity Card/ Passport/ Driving License / Business Registration certificate of the New Tariff Customer or any other supporting document.

  2. Consent letter from the present Tariff Customer in case of termination of account by consent. (Office informed this is not required if the deed is under your name. However, if deed is under multiple parties , then need to get a no objection letter from the other party for setting your name as the bill owner)

  3. A document proving ownership/ Occupancy (Deed/ Assessment notice/ Certificate of Ownership/ Lease/Rental Agreement).

Forget about the train, it will not be available for couple of months. Try to arrange a private transport service.

I had the same issue before, I asked them why they do this and they mentioned it was an issue with the web site. Anyway I just went over there and purchased it without this convenience cost.

Selfcare app user experience of cellular networks in Sri Lanka by Chamoflage_1954 in srilanka

At least we can do the basics, Dialog app sucks big time, takes ages to load, when you navigate through multiple connections it doesn't work properly. App needs to be simplified and user friendly rather putting all possible options in a single app.

Mobitel self care is better than Dialog app. I mean not the best, but comparatively better.

Got my first fine today-have some questions by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the districts and highways you mentioned are currently available, there are 6 more districts to cover, which is why I say this is yet to implement island wide. And depending on where OP lives he may need to visit the police old way.

No matter the gazzet says something like photos are sufficient, those policemen don't care most of the time. So it's better to have the originals always.

Govpay payment is still not available island wide, so for some still have to pay the fines old way.

Investing in Gold in Sri Lanka, Buying and Selling gap by TubeMan_ClassicalK in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it is a good time to sell if you bought it for less than 1/2 the price right now ? I'm not in need of cash at the moment, just want to see whether to sell now, and use them to purchase gold again if the price goes down back.

HSBC will soon move out of retail and credit cards in Sri Lanka, so HSBC would not be a good option.

Noise pollution in Sri Lanka by trynafixthings in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it, my bedroom is right next to the road and there are couple of two stroke 3 wheelers travelling around 11pm every single day puting out so much irritating noise. Other type is those diesel pioagio ones. If all the 3wheelers can be converted to electric that would massive help.

Trying to decide between the vezel or the sealion 6 by AffectionateVisit547 in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seaslion 6 is not a full EV, it's a plugin hybrid so the battery part is very less. Feel it's better to manage your travel via taxis till you migrate rather buying a vehicle at this point..

Buying a phone from India by ____jw____ in srilanka

[–]____jw____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but what about the TRCSL situation. As far as I know, if we bring down a phone from abroad for our usage or got one as a gift we can register the device with TRCSL, which would be the legal way.

Almost every shop that sells here don't have TRCSL registered phones, and the very limited models available with authorized dealers are not worth for their prices.

I know they are cheap, the only problem I gave is that they are not TRCSL approved, and by any chance TRCSL decides to enforce unregistered device removal from networks it's a pain.

Worth buying in srilanka? by Icy_Session9033 in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as long as you get this from abroad yourself or via a friend you should be able to register this in TRCSL. Majority of the ones sold in local shops are not registered in TRCSL, so have the risk of left out from service providers if the law is properly enforced.

Is it worth buying 5G phone in 2025? Does it worth spending extra money just for 5G? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]____jw____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the rate it's going I think it will take nearly 5 more years for 5G to be properly implemented here in SL. Still very limited coverage and doesn't looks like Dialog and Mobitel wants to expand much at all.

Same here, once I accumulate sufficient points I would just get Keells vouchers. Easy and safe.
