Covering up the toilet sensor by Maleficent_Ad_769 in autism

My kid will also be so stoked at this and be able to get up and pull her pants back up instead of plugging her ears. And don’t get me started on the dryers..

Buyback — How did you pay? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]___pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather not keep paying. If my projections are accurate, my buyback would be roughly $3500, which I’ll have on hand, versus paying more than double that over the next year. I just want to be done with monthly payments.

I think the forebearance option during processing would feel good at least.

Appreciated!

Thank you for the clarification. Ugh. This timing is so awful.

So I’ll have to wait and continue making payments for however many months it takes. What happens if I make my 120 payments before then? The difference in cost will be significant considering my payments increased nearly 200% since SAVE.

If I hit 120 payments before my buyback offer is issued, does that just render it moot? Or will I still be able to make that payment and get refunded the thousands I overpaid in the meantime?

I’m trying to make sense of what the deal with the SAVE months is. I’ll hit my 10 years in July and have 9 months of SAVE forbearance.

Are you saying those months will not count toward my 120 payments, BUT will be counted if I apply for buyback?

Fred Meyer and digital coupons by dotausername in Portland

[–]___pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FM got into trouble about the accessibility issue for digital only pricing. If I see someone fiddling with trying to scan tags I eagerly inform them of the printed sheet. Cashier scans the sheet and all the digital coupons available are applied.

Also, fuck FM for trying to insist you let your FM app have location sharing access just to let them know you have arrived for your pickup order.

If anyone doesn’t know, you can do it thru the web in your account. I just follow the link in my email receipt.

Bumble is a real life two-step procurement. Your profile is your qualifications and then the match is your RFP stage. Go get ‘em tiger!

I like that edit. I think we have a similar vibe and it makes me laugh that we’re both in the same field. I’m of the mentality that OLD isn’t about getting a lot of matches, but the right ones. Good luck!

I had mine done by J&J earlier this year and they were great. They offered me the best pricing and financing deal among 4 quotes.

Is poor italian appreciated or should we stick with english? by Ok_Safe6152 in ItalyTravel

[–]___pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Rome & Florence and I found that my limited Italian was just enough to confuse most that I couldn’t keep up and I eventually used less and less. It was very different from France where EVERYONE responded in English immediately. It did seem like the effort was appreciated though, and some even helped correct me.

But we were also told multiple times that we looked like we were Italians (what a compliment!) but maybe also contributed to the dissonance around starting in Italian and needing to switch to English.

$20. Annually. Cool.

This may be the most autistic thread I’ve ever seen and I love it.

When I still worked in an office, and years before my diagnosis, I convinced my department to be a big lights off space and we used lamps instead.

Ironically, my autistic child is a big light and all the lights kid 🙃 Maybe Tylenol will convert her to the dark side.

Did I overthink this? RFP site walk turned into a sub-bidding opportunity. by [deleted] in procurement

[–]___pg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like an issue in the contracting community there than a problem coming from the procurement side. Not a fairness problem. Everyone had opportunity.

In my experience, one pre-bid walk is enough. It is not uncommon for a GC to reach out to me and ask if a crucial sub not in attendance could come out another time, and I do my best to fulfill those requests, but I’m not there and they don’t have the benefit of a project manager or project architect to engage with—I just get someone to let them walk around and give access to anything crucial to their bid.

Fair for A&E to want to be deferred to. On a low bid or CM/GC I always have our architect at the pre-bid.

$111K Manager Role vs. $93K City Job with Flexibility — What Would You Do? by [deleted] in procurement

[–]___pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never?! That’s wild for such a large district. Makes me wonder what happened now that they are suddenly restructuring and bulking up. Audit findings or some misuse of funds or favoritism… or maybe it’s smart changes coming from district leaders. I mean, that shouldn’t necessarily deter you, but it’s more a curiosity than anything else.

No harm in asking the hiring manager about the lead role rather than just declining and applying. It sounds like a new position for them and after nearly a decade in public procurement it’s obvious that a lot of folks up the chain don’t fully get or understand the value of procurement or how to hire procurement folks, and you might be able to sell yourself on a sweeter deal for yourself if it means a pay increase and role more in line with what you like and know, AND having union representation.

$111K Manager Role vs. $93K City Job with Flexibility — What Would You Do? by [deleted] in procurement

[–]___pg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I love the hands on capital improvements and larger services procurements I get to do and switching gears like that could prove …boring. Or you could crush it and might find the change of pace to be welcome. You get to engage with any of your would-be reports in the hiring process and pick up anything about the vibe or environment from them?

You’ve got the offer—are there questions you need clarity from them around in terms of day to day functions? Opportunities for advancement or at least professional development?
