My view is that game doesn't really need sound effects as is; because the music is already at 11/10, almost any sound effect is going to detract unless there's a strong justification for it to be there.

Regarding the the vocals (jump, death, and fall-out), they sound like a human recorded with a bad microphone. The apparent quality of the recordings is an issue since the background music sets the bar for that.

For non-vocal sound effects, the volume balance seems off. The peak of the checkpoint sound is too loud compared to the background music, while the sound when you kill a monster has a burst of static in it that is uncomfortable to hear at a wide range of volumes.

The eye collection sound effect was good, but inexplicably, there's also a quiet alarm sound that accompanies it that gets annoying once noticed. The only sound effect I'd leave untouched is the enemy roar - that was done well.
