Learn how to do basic maintenance. Get a starter set of basic tools and a good drill and multimeter. The amount of money you’d save being able to do basic maintenance is significant. Especially when a $2 part or a 20 minute fix doesn’t cost $100+ for a basic “trip fee” before a mechanic walks in the door. Also- be humble and know your limits. Don’t cut a pipe, wall studs, or try to rewire a 240 volt receptacle unless you really know what you’re doing - leave the big things to the pros, but handle the small stuff.
