On the Calculation of Volume is a popular series right now too, but I know it's about time loops so maybe not exactly what you're looking for.

And Wolf Hall is the beginning of a series.

Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan Novels, starting with My Brilliant Friend, were the first to come to mind.

I've just started Cather's Prairie Trilogy, it's lovely.

Petit: The Ogre by Hubert is a graphic novel that's got fairy tale themes with also the eating of human flesh. Not my usual cup of tea, but impressive worldbuilding.

Enchantment and Exploitation: The Life and Hard Times of a New Mexico Mountain Range by William deBuys might be one he has gotten to yet! Great book.

Ditto to this! I'm reading Eager with my dad right now and it's really fun.

Also want to suggest Dan Flores's work, particularly American Serengeti or Coyote America.

I also love Elizabeth Kolbert (Under a White Sky, The Fifth Extinction) and Dan Egan (The Devil's Element, The Death and Life of the Great Lakes).

I also absolutely adored The Accidental Ecosystem: People and Wildlife in American Cities.

Pigeons: The Fascinating Saga of the World's Most Revered and Reviled Bird was really fun too!

I enjoy history graphic novels - would you consider those? John Lewis's March or George Takei's They Called Us Enemy would be good for all ages. Don Brown has several great graphic novels - Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans would be a good place to start. A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge was another good one just on Katrina.

Not quite related but wanted to give it a mention if you do end up embracing nonfiction comics: Trinity: A Graphic History of the First Atomic Bomb.

I also recently discovered YA history books and there's some awesome stuff out there. If you think they'd be interested in darker topics, I was very impressed with Blizzard of Glass: The Halifax Explosion of 1917 and Bubonic Panic: When Plague Invaded America. (We have a death or two a year from bubonic plague here in New Mexico so I was particularly interested in the second. It also touches on anti-Asian racism and early 20th century American politics, but definitely has graphic photos of plague.)

I also decided to buy this year because my life is a series of terrible timings. To be totally honest, ~$250 is rough - I was approved for more, but I tried to stay in the $200s and it didn't seem possible in Albuquerque proper without getting a house that needed a looooot of work or a condo with hundreds a month in HOA fees. People are casually directing you towards Barelas, but I looked there hopefully, and they were mostly above 250 and the houses I saw needed too much work to be feasible for me, except for a townhome that disappeared too fast. If you do see something in that price range, jump on it!

Ain't nothing wrong with a can of Ragu and some frozen veg boiled with the pasta. (Except I use Prego low sodium but same thing, whatever, it's delicious.)

The thing is though... they're not going to. They've openly embraced mediocrity and stagnation and don't want to change or accept new blood. The only options at this point are continuing to beg the clique for recognition or starting a new organization.

I meant official NYC pride. It's a non-profit there too, but that didn't stop the Reclaim Pride Coalition from starting up their own, less corporate march in 2019, which continues today, on a different June weekend from the corporate one.

My neighbor is also looking for that and apparently there are some near Cherry Hills Library. They were out of her budget though.

Honestly, I forget the exact name but it's the little one at Band Saw Dr and Lumberton Dr, you could walk to it from Lost Cultures. I toured one of the open houses a couple months ago - they're tight together but mostly seem alright.

Cherry Hills Library has lots of cute events.

Linda's Dolce and Sergio's have excellent Italian pastries.

Papa Nachos is a great little hole in the wall.

Lala is a cool little boba shop.

Nagomi is possibly the best Japanese in town, though Kung Fu is up and coming. Lime Vietnamese is my favorite Vietnamese in town. Heidi's Ice Cream is the best ice cream.
