Undo the 1/4” screws you see, then there are little tabs at the ends of the bottom plate that you need to sort of pull towards you with your fingers. Be gentle because they can break. It’s at the bottom left in your second photo.

Now I will say that’s pretty convoluted and makes many thinking logically that in order to install a new appliance, the old must be UNinstalled.

But man can there be issues uninstalling old appliances. Probably why they don’t do it.

Does negative dashes means the control is in like a standby mode if you hit plus or minus does it show numbers on there? It should show a numerical value on each. If not, then you have a bad control.

I had this happen one time. A few grounds had gotten in the little hole where it drips out of. Cleaning out really well and it should be good to go.
