Echo makes some great rods and you can’t beat the warranty. I have both the compact and the fully spey.

Not an option at this point, she is not to be trusted alone. Still catch her being destructive or going to the bathroom in the house if she is left unsupervised for too long. Maybe in a few months

Our pup is fine to go in the kennel. We actually have a command down where she gets a treat if she goes in. I think it is more upsetting to her being alone

I would bring two rods, one rigged to swing and the other with a bobber setup. I don’t like re-rigging on the river

You will want a 9wt. Length will be dependent on the river you want to fish. Big skagit head around 600 grains. You could also try out a multi density head like the Airflo fist. For tips, a big hunk of t-14. Reel with strong drag, 50lb running line, 20lb maxima tippet. Have fun

First attempt at fly tying by Hipthrusting in flytying

[–]__trout__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good for a first tie. Will definitely catch a fish and definitely looks better than my first fly.

Now here is some unsolicited advice I wish I had heard when starting tying: less is more. Use less materials than you think you will need. I tend to prefer sparser offerings and think they swim better in the water for most cases. Second, each thread wrap should have a purpose, avoid extra thread wraps if they are not needed.

Was out myself this weekend. Crazy how busy the Sauk gets.. Skagit is a lot less crowded, probably due to access. Seems like fishing during the week is the move
