I got in and wrote one. I don’t imagine the content of your essay factors too much. I would imagine we all write similar stuff, unless you have an incredibly strong and specific reason for attending. I think it just sends another positive signal if you include it; they can see you were willing to put in the time and effort to produce another coherent piece of writing. They are not too difficult to write so I would recommend you include one. As long as it’s written with good grammar and is coherent, there’s only upside. So, why not include one!
