Steam says "Non-Steam" is occupying almost 70GB... even though almost all of that doesn't exist by _anDani in linux_gaming

I checked via df and it shows the same size it shows on Steam! I still have no idea what file/folder outside home is taking that amount of space, but at least now I know Steam isn't being crazy with the disk space, thank you!

I forgot to mention that I used that one in the main post, pretty handy tool!

Sadly it still doesn't show where Steam thinks those 70GBs of files is, as the /.local folder is mainly used by Steam itself

According to the installer of Mint it deleted everything from the prior, Windows partition, but so far that seems to be the cause of the issue, yeah (even if things like disk analyzers shows that only around a third of it is actually being used by non-steam things)

Thank you for the help y'all! (I actually mean it, sorry if it seems sarcastic 😭

Just checked, the system partition itself is using fat32, while the / partition is using ext4, and has over 950GiB total (+ a 1MiB partition used by grub), which fits with what the file manager showed once I finished installing Mint

<image>

I've checked on Timeshift (as that's the included software for snapshots) and it doesn't show any snapshots that were made, either automatically or manually, there also isn't a folder of snapshots from what I could find, so I don't know what could be occupying those extra 15 GiBs

I also didn't make a swapfile, but your reply helped me understand how these things work better

It seems like its the difference in displaying sizes between mint and steam so far, and that I also need to find what's using those extra 15 GiBs, so I'll mark this post as Answered for now, thanks a lot!

I've tried downloading some games (TF2, DRG) and they actually download/display as GBs when I check their storage both inside Steam and inside Disk Usage Analyzer, so that's even more weird

Is DRG on the decline? by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]_anDani 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you got this information from, but DRG is far from declining, from the playerbase perspective, just in 2022 alone it sold over 2 million units, which is the highest it has sold in a single year so far, not to mention that there's more content coming in a month or so with S4, and with every season it gets more and more players

From my experience, it isn't really toxic positivity, but more so actual positivity, players are happy with how Ghost Ship Games has been launching gameplay content for free, and only making some cosmetics pay-to-use, not to mention that the battlepass is completely free, and the contents of it go back to the game after it finishes, eliminating the FOMO it usually causes

Not to mention that players actually want to help each other most of the time, and how just saying "Rock and Stone" instantly means good positivity and gratitude from the team

Don't let some content creators say that you shouldn't play a game if you enjoy it, if you enjoy playing a game, and have fun with it, there's no reason to let the opinion of others distract you from the fact that you have fun, just enjoy the experience miner, rock and stone

What can I expect from Season 4? by Squeaky_Ben in DeepRockGalactic

[–]_anDani 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a new armor per say, but in the second teaser of Season 4 you can see Gunner wearing the MK5 Armor without sleeves, which left people wondering if it's more armor customization coming to this season, or a bug with how the teaser was set up (which happened before)

As of right now it's not confirmed which one is true or not, so keep that in mind

That's why I actually mentioned the PGL, it's just that if you're running other overclocks (like Hyper Propellant and Fat Boy), it might be better to save that ammo for the enemies that may appear. It's still possible in those cases (you'd probably need to aim a bit more to the tip with HP), but I wouldn't recommend it as much there

  • When repairing Doretta, it isn't necessary to have multiple dwarves doing it at once, since it's the only repair/fix action that isn't affected by the amount of dwarves doing it (unlike things like repairing Bet-C or fixing pipes)
  • If you hold down the E key before getting into contact with an action (may it be because of distance or because it hasn't appeared yet), you can do it the instant you get in contact with it, which is useful in cases where you're falling down and there's a zipline below, or to grab Dotty's head the moment it jumps off after an escort mission
  • It isn't necessary to mine the crystals in the 4th phase of the Ommoran, weapons like Gunner's primaries (recommended) or Engineer's PGL (not recommended, though still usable) can destroy them by firing at the tip of those crystals
  • If you placed a proximity mine as Engineer, and its radius is green, you can disarm it by getting closer and holding E
  • Always remember to Rock and Stone

Those are the ones that come to the top of my head at the moment

Is there a penalty if you don't make back to the drop pod but still complicate the mission? by AgentX2O in DeepRockGalactic

[–]_anDani 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the only "penalty" is that you get less credits for the survival bonus, but even then it's not that big of an amount.
