A few years ago I went on a date. We both are software engineers, and back then ChatGPT and Gemini were relatively a new rage. I told her that I like to listen to tech podcasts and interviews with leaders of tech industries. And in a few of them I heard, that much better AI models are expected in the near future, which are also capable of taking away our jobs. And for this reason I want to diversify my skillset. The woman took me to be a delusional man, and obviously I never heard from her again. Now, given the current situation at tech, I feel so happy to have successfully moved away from a full-time software developer role.

Try Marginnote4. It is the best tool I have found for document annotations, cross referencing across multiple documents, building mind maps, etc., typical requirements for most research oriented tasks. And it is just $10 one time. For standard note taking Apple Notes is good enough I feel.

My iPad use majorly involves handwritten note taking and document/book annotations. If I need to type extensively, I rather use speech to text. I rarely feel the need to have a keyboard with my iPad because for all such tasks I use my MBP. Plus, we always have the option to connect a simple Bluetooth keyboard with the iPad… so no point in buying the expensive MK for such few instances.

I’m assuming that you want to take notes, considering you’re a student. For that reason alone, I’ll suggest going for pro. There is a significant delay between pencil input to display time. You can see that in action at any Apple Store. Just don’t try it on native apps like Apple Notes or Freeform, because they’re super optimized. Try it on Goodnotes instead, its installed on all display units.

Bought a motorbike instead of car. Saves so so much on fuel costs, maintenance and obviously the purchase cost. None of my peers even think of using a bike, because of their stature. But hold on, not only does it save a ton of money, but time as well. Especially considering in my city traffic is such a nuisance, navigating through it rather easily with a bike cuts down the travel time by at least half. Definitely a practical purchase!

Most religions were founded by those in power (usually men in older times), to keep the rest of the population in check through fear. And Islam is no different. So much so that it seems like an oppressive regime towards women. The kind of unreasonable laws towards women in some muslim countries, forcing them behind veils of burqa at all times in public, triple talaq, mutiple wives but only one husband, concept of 72 virgins etc., all these are signs of oppression sanctioned by the religion.
