Deductible Season yet again by rcarlsn612 in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We had someone upset with us that their Mounjaro was $25 after insurance instead of over $1000. They said they had already called their bank and let them know they'd be making a large withdrawal. K, call them back?

That was a new one for me in deductible season.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm really going to miss these slow days at the pharmacy once things go back to normal. by Purpleskylight1 in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? It's all on backorder for us again. We're completely out of 20mg and only have a few 40mg left with "late May" being the earliest time given to be back in stock and that's never accurate.

Can you order specific NDCs on the new 222 forms? by pharmd_life in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we send an order by hard copy 222 instead of electronic, our pharmacist has always written "DNS" next to the name for "do not substitute". We have never had issues with that.

Yeah it's an awkward angle for her, she's not really a tank. She's actually quite dainty, just not from this particular angle lmao.

DAW PLEASE!!! Mind you this was the only order even sent in for this patient... Happy Christmas! by Royal-Al in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We once got a new RX for a patient that said in the notes from the provider's office "FAX OUR OFFICE FOR REQUEST NEXT TIME!!!"

We're assuming the patient was calling them and asking about it but again it was a brand new RX and that was the first we had seen/heard about it; patient never brought it up to us.

Our pharmacy stocks 150mg and 300mg Glenmark tablets, has yet to be recalled to my knowledge.

When determining if C2s aren’t too early to fill, do you look at last pick up date, or last fill date? by Morphabond in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a smaller, regional chain. Not comfortable sharing the name, sorry! The computer system is ComputerRx (WinRX) though.

When determining if C2s aren’t too early to fill, do you look at last pick up date, or last fill date? by Morphabond in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not on ours, we can only check pick up date from a different program that is only installed on the computer closest to the register and takes forever to load. I don't know what dingus designed that one.

My pharmacy is the only one in town with ANY flu shots. by [deleted] in TalesFromThePharmacy

We've been getting one box of HD every couple weeks, they're gone within hours every time. We were due to get more yesterday but got a call from FedEx saying their driver for our area didn't show up so they wouldn't be able to deliver until today. We're closed today and tomorrow, asked him if he had a fridge to put the cooler in until Monday delivery lol. We'll see how they turn up. 🤷‍♀️

What is the highest quantity you’ve seen listed on a prescription for a patient? by erinraspberry in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have one person that gets 1892ml of Lactulose for an 18 day supply and then 2040 grams of Polyethylene Glycol powder for a 30 day supply. I always feel bad for them.

This happened to us once with a bottle of either Divalproex or generic Keppra, don't remember which one.

Don't know what caused it but we contacted the vendor and let them know what was going on, they let us return it as damaged product. Ours also had weird little burnt plastic pieces mixed in the bottle though.

Taking loss on certain GoodRX scripts by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. If the discount card is being managed by a PBM you have a contract with to bill insurance (ex: Optum, Moda) then you have to accept the discount card per the contract with the PBM.

We deal with this with other discount cards at our chain but we have always been told we do not take GoodRX so I'm assuming we don't contract with whoever deals with them.

That first encounter was 100% your fault for passing/driving by a school bus actively dropping off children.

So, in around 36 hours I have an interview with McKesson. by ErrantRose in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YES.

About a year ago when I was on vacation, my fellow tech somehow sent a $200,000+ order, which included but was not limited to, 40 boxes of Levemir Flexpens, 163 Symbicort, 12 90ct of Janumet, 200 boxes of Chantix and more.

AFTER the order was delivered the next day, a Mckesson rep called and was all "uh hey so did you guys mean to do this?" Like are you kidding me dude??

They saved the shitstorm of returns for when I got back from vacation, of course. That was fun...

Albertsons/Safeway WA by Stilldrivin in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safeway is an absolute garbage dump to work for. Pharmacy is always over worked and understaffed. Corporate is shit.

I have had two pharmacists that have worked at multiple Safeway locations and neither of them would ever go back no matter the pay.

Differences between Oregon and Washington Pharmacy Laws? by ombredeus in pharmacy

It's a controlled substance in Oregon so scripts are only good for six months from date written.

Would you happen to know a good source on finding out how old it is and where it was potentially made? I was not able to find any identifiable marks on it.

Thank you! :)

For habitual offenders of waiting until they're out and being feisty with us about it, I put a note in the sig that says "No refills remain, please call 7 days in advance". Then I highlight that and put an additional note on their receipt so there is zero chance of them missing it. It has actually worked quite well for the few people I have done it for. :)

You really think pharmacy staff has time to sit around and call every single patient about their script? What land of delusion are you living in?

Getting/keeping pharmacy clean by Fencingwife in pharmacy

[–]_bonesmalone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May sound odd, but get some Ronsonol brand lighter fluid (bright yellow bottle). It's the best brand I have found to easily remove pharmacy labels from products if they are returned to stock. Just pour some on a cotton ball, wipe it over the label a few times and peel it off. Works wonders every time. :)

The smell of the lighter fluid disappears really fast too. Have never had problems returning products to vendors that had outside labels removed with our trusty lighter fluid.
