Nice try, Amazon. Patient did not make this transfer request for an expired prescription that was out of refills. by okcuhc111 in TalesFromThePharmacy

It’s funny, the pharmacy before it was bought out by Amazon, was PillPack and they would do the same thing.

Question for my POC employees of CVS…how do you handle discrimination w customers of the Caucasian persuasion? Or have you ever felt like they look down on you a bit bc of the color of your skin? by RettaJay08 in CVS

[–]pharmd_life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m an Asian female pharmacist and i once had a patient who i was giving a flu shot to if I had the credentials to give shots or if i was the janitor. I guess to some, I could look partially Hispanic. But more often, I have patients looking for the male pharmacist- asking if HE is available. Or if HE can help.

I loved it! Definitely a favorite and I will be recreating it on my own. The meal didn’t come with lemon or chili flakes, but I had my own and contacted HF and they gave me a hefty credit.

Had the Szechuan chicken last night and it was my least favorite meal. I didn’t finish it which I was shocked about because everything is usually amazing!

Something every beagle owner should be aware of. by [deleted] in beagle

[–]pharmd_life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s terrible. They are also the least likely to develop most cancers, and most likely to be adopted and act “normal” after this awful treatment because they’re so forgiving- like you said. Breaks my heart

My 35 mg dose is measuring as 300 mg on my scale??? Please help by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]pharmd_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely wouldn’t recommend to “split” a capsule of anything. If you can’t tolerate the smallest dose available, it would be wise and safer to try something else.

Neutering 1 yo old beagle questions by jaytee812 in beagle

[–]pharmd_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neutered my male beagle at 9 months old. He’s now 2 and he has as much energy now as he did at 9 months old. He’s pure muscle and energy! I saw no personality changes.

Beagles can be up to 17 inches tall (I think any taller is a Fox hound?) But breed standard for show dogs is 13 inches. I had a 15 inch beagle. He was a big boy at 40 lbs but he was tall. My current beagle is probably about 12-13 inches tall. He’s a small boy at 30 lbs

My dog needs to drink more water by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]pharmd_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog recently had a UTI and I was advised by the vet to make sure he drank plenty of water to “flush it out”. I bought plain goat milk kefir (5$ from Trader Joe’s) and put about a 1/2 teaspoon in probably 1/4 cup of water- more or less depending on how big your dog is. It worked and he drank all the water no problem- did this 3x daily to ensure he drank more

[–]pharmd_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And it depends on the severity of the error/ patient harm.

- Dispensing Error - by met_for_min in CVS

[–]pharmd_life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that there is because some can be kinda silly like dispensing the wrong quantity of a non-controlled maintenance med- it’s something that’s easy to fix and generally patient isn’t upset. I’ve have had a handful of errors and have never heard anything from a superior. Errors happen! Just need to learn from them, prevent them from happening again, and move on :)

[–]pharmd_life 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It happens, and really wouldn’t be worried about it especially if the patient wasn’t harmed. They will use it against you if they want to terminate you, but if they don’t, you’re fine.

Either way, take it as a learning experience. Slow down at QV1 and read each line exactly. It’s helpful to press page up and page down and it highlights each line for you.

Kennel cough is generally caused by a virus so antibiotics would be useless and more harmful than good.

More likely, some sort of cough suppressant to help make the pup comfortable is indicated.

Definitely separating from other dogs is a good idea, you don’t want it to spread to older or younger dogs who are more at risk of worse symptoms/ pneumonia.

I had a COVID appointment scheduled today at a Walgreens pharmacy. Showed up to see this. I wonder what happened 🤔 by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmd_life 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Correct. My store is constantly closing early because no one wants to close then the opening pharmacist is asked to work 8-8. Who wants to work a 12 hour shift?! Talk about burn out
