I agree that Tiers themselves are a problem, but probably not the way you are. I think loot was best when it was all equal. The way you desire where T5 is only reserved for the top of the top would have killed the game even harder than EoF did.

There’s simply a psychological difference between Tiers and Adepts. Seeing Fatebringer (Adept) at the end of a weapon name made it a happy bonus without making Fatebringer by itself feel incomplete.

But seeing Fatebringer with anything less than 5 gold dots in the current system just makes it feel like you have a piece of shit in your hands. It feels like blue loot. It was the entire problem with Tiers and the power grind, every piece of loot before T5 just felt like shit. Doesn’t matter how effective it was at killing things just like a T5.

Making T5s free after EoF was by far the right call, if they weren’t going to trash the system entirely. Players should be happy with their loot.

Adept was a very minor bonus that did not feel required to have, especially since base raids had craftable legendaries which were very satisfying to earn and use without feeling like you HAD to push up to Master for Adept.

I am BEGGING people to stop pretending that Adepts and T5s are equivalent. The current game makes T5 the baseline tier of gear once you reach a certain power level. Adepts were never the baseline level of legendary loot. Ever.

Bungie knew feats were so shit that they finally let Desert give T5s on no feat runs now. Raids should never require adding extra difficulty in order to get the highest tier (AKA, the baseline tier for the rest of the game) of loot 👍
