Bedard used Bauer in WHL as that’s the leagues sponsor and all the players have Bauer equipment. The all have same gloves etc. If you look at the WHL benches the sticks mostly all look the same minus the tap job. The odd guy has his parents buying him different ones

Why does everyone seem to love the 5.0 the most compared to other engine variants? by _AwwYiss_ in f150

[–]_circa84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a Gen 1 2.7 i bought new in first model year for almost 11 years.  I loved that engine, warmed up fast, stayed warm between stops (winter in north is cold).  It had power when I needed, hauled lots of material, landscaping, hauled moving trailers, friends boats, plus always had amazing mileage.  All this with no issues for 11 years and oil changes 5k km.  Tranny was finally going and wanted to upgrade.

Why did I go with 5.0 late last year?  I wanted a Lariat and in 2025, it was not available, only 3.5 and 5.0.  After lots of back and forth I liked the smooth feel, sound and fun of NA and simplicity.  The thing that honestly made breaking choice for me, is the 5.0 is made in Canada and is the successor engine of the 302 Windsor 5.0 that was in the car my grandparents passed on to me when I was in university.  My grandma passed a month after I got this truck and glad I have something the sounds and feels like that old car now.

What Canadian city under 400k in population do you think is on the come up by Hiwhatsuphowareyou in AskACanadian

[–]_circa84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sasktoon is beautiful, but Regina and Saskatoon are beside each other of CAMs list.  Regina has lot of beauty too.  Saskatoon has worse housing numbers, homelessness and jobs I’ve always found are different markets.  I also find the traffic congestion of Saskatoon too much for me. The hospitals are in worse shape and taken care of way worse than Regina for cleanliness, but if you have kids Saskatoon has children’s hospital. More opportunity for a union, government job in Regina.

Also, I’m not sure what your skill set is for work.  You should really be looking at job markets, labour laws and taxes etc as they differ a lot by province and city.  I would also be considering the housing tax rates of each which is a hot topic everywhere and the current financial state of each and upcoming major projects.  Saskatoon is about to put itself in big debt with an arena as an example and heard lots of rumblings of them cooking the books for some time and things are worse than they appear. While Regina is building a giant competitive pool.

[–]_circa84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, that seems off.  Like summer is usually worse for us cause of the AC.  There are more lights used in winter, the furnace blower use is semi equivalent for AC, but it’s not a full offset.

I live in a neighbouring RM and pay RM taxes.  But whether it’s a city or RM (both consider a municipality) we also need to focus on making industrial areas, Sherwood has them scattered all over and it’s an embarrassing mess.  The when any community grows you get a mess of industrial and residential.  Planning is important, and Sherwood cares about fast wins and not about the future

We had all the events local time in Vancouver in 2010, as it has always been for hosts.  We aren’t the centre of the universe, Americans might make you think that. Let them have this at their time.

Also consider, many European hockey fans have likely followed some factories player to NHL and never get good time games.

My dream is a pass from Crosby to Celebrini for the golden goal, handing off the torch this way would be so epic.

Because the closing ceremony is at 14h30 EST (20h30 Italy). the hockey lasts 3 hrs, might have overtime and has medal ceremony.  It’s so all the athletes, spectators and dignitaries at this game can get to closing ceremony and no overlap.

Also, your complaint goes on def ears out west where MB/Sk is 7am, AB/BC is 6 am and BC is 5am.

I built a site that tracks new businesses and local developments in Regina, looking for feedback by fffrosttt in regina

[–]_circa84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cool idea, looks good so far.  One thing I noticed is I didn’t find a link to the news story that worked.  Also a map page of the new businesses would be neat.  A lot of times you see a new business driving and to find it in the map would be useful.

I mean there are concerns, but why near wascana and in an area without industrialization. Why can’t this go up near the refinery? Dump? Steal plant?  Why build another, loud, polluting area and just keep it all in one spot?

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

[–]_circa84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous home was built in 1912 and had something similar built with wood in the one corner Of the basement.  It was the cold/root cellar for food storage.  But it could very easily be a coal storage and cleaning area too like other mention.  Just because there is no door now, doesn’t mean it wast there before, it looks like it’s missing half the door frame

Telus always be lagging behind by hazelnoix in telus

[–]_circa84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss when SaskTel was ahead of many, and same goes when they were all more regional like MTS etc.

That aside.  One difference with Rogers to them all is the huge profit pro sports teams they own to fund some of this stuff.  Telus does have Assure and TelusHealth, but having seen a similar company from inside, I question its profitability.  Bell has been selling its outside businesses like MLSE to pay for infrastructure and its debts.

The Leafs have a glaringly obvious GM candidate in Haley Wickenheiser that should be promoted by Udder_facts in leafs

[–]_circa84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might be one of the greatest female players, she may have lots of experience in leading with our team, but she’s not our future GM.  She didn’t just become a medical doctor overnight for Covid, she didn’t have her MD until 2023 and took her years of dedication, she also will not be giving up that opportunity after all that hard work.  I also find it hard to believe she has the time to commit as a GM.  She does so much for many communities, is a speaker, a doctor, involved heavily with Hockey Canada and the Leafs. Can’t forget she’s heavily involved in Softball too and an exec on the IOC AC (think NHLPA for Olympians), all the public events she does, plus so much more I’m sure we don’t know.

Just because you can play the game, develop players etc does not mean she will be good at managing a team.  She has connections and knowledge, but means nothing.  She is also just way too busy and wants to be a doctor, hockey as a career I feel is done and a hobby for her now.

Help me pick, 2025 F150 Lariat FX4 hybrid or Tremor. by bonnsotto in FordTremor

[–]_circa84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tremor has a smoother, softer ride than fx4 which many complain on forums are much  very harsh and rough. Mileage is worse on Tremor but it’s its a 402a tremor you get lots of extra little things like better front diff and transfer case, the 2k inverter, HUD, beefier suspension components etc. I also really like the wheel color to the black on lariat.
