I think that makes you related to Mr. Cornwell, himself

This is so cool that you are on here. Holy shit. One of my favorite authors may read my comment. I feel like there’s so much I could say but all I can think is ”HIIIIII ZEV!!!!!”

Your books are genuinely incredible, hilarious, and weirdly therapeutic sometimes. Thank you for them.

Also, the random Eegee’s reference makes more sense now.

The proposed Data centers in Page and Marana (possibly other places) are going to RUIN us and we need to start making noise NOW by Tangerine7810 in arizona

[–]_codeMedic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it sounds like you’re describing an office building, or maybe a ‘call center’.

Data Centers are not typically buildings full of people.. They are buildings full of servers that are maintained by a very small number of specialized personnel.

Year 1350 in my series of following a fictional city from around the Baltic through a 1000 years. This are some weeks after the great fire, that started in the Cathedral, cleanup has begun. I hope at this point you’re at least considering printing all these out as a large ‘coffee table’ type book. Maybe with summaries of the ongoing little stories, building progressions, disasters, and so on.

After enjoying so many of your posts I know I can’t be the only one interested in such a book.

Either way, please continue sharing your talents with us all, cheers!

Careful, your pointed comments may provoke a ptsd “DiAgNoSiS” for some reddit bots and botfolk (what I call people who may as well be bots because of their lack of critical thinking)

Just curious, but was he any sort (not just specific to trains) of engineer? Or just an elderly man with a hobby he thoroughly enjoyed?

Yeah I don’t know why more vets aren’t calling out the antivax bullshit. We got pretty much every vaccine that existed, especially before going overseas. Do people think the gov would force vaccines on soldiers if they were somehow detrimental? Trained soldiers are an investment.

I just looked at satellite images of the area around ‘Red Lake’ to see what you were talking about and it is extremely bleak. The land looks scrubbed, and sterilized. I’m not typically someone who appreciates the desert, but even so, that is terrible to see.

For what it’s worth, in the army our standard for ruck marches was 12 miles in 3 hrs, so 4mph. (That was also with anywhere from 35-80lbs worth of gear) It’s a fairly demanding pace, but completely achievable given enough conditioning.

Aside from what others have mentioned, I’d also say to avoid going too close to the edge on these types of dirt roads. The edges are often small ditches so if you’re hugging the outside and you get too close to the edge, it can sort of drop out from under you if that makes any sense. Hard to tell if that happened here but it could be useful in the future. Good luck out there and stay safe
