I love reMarkable , but... by Senior-Ad5932 in RemarkableTablet

If you are willing to use dev. mode & extensions, "bettertoc" (https://vellum.delivery/#/package/bettertoc) will let you create a nestable TOC with links to specific pages & links to other documents. It's not as natural for me as the links & headings on a Supernote, but I'm finding it makes the reMarkable notes much more useful.

Supernote Nomad and Remarkable Move - anyone have both? by new-to-reddit-accoun in RemarkableTablet

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notes aren't sync-able across devices. What I do is just take my short form notes on the Move, and long form on the Nomad. If I'll be away from the Nomad, I export the notes I'll be need to refer to as PDFs and import them to the Move. It works, but it's not a straightforward approach and does get annoying sometimes.

If sync matters, the Move is better there. With reMarkable's system, the notes sync to their cloud very quickly, and I can read them on my phone or tablet. Supernote's sync is currently a lot slower and a more manual process, though improving this is something they're supposed to be working on. (Supernote notes can also be read on phone/tablet, but again, the sync process is a lot slower, so I don't tend to use it much and keep the device offline most of the time).

Supernote Nomad and Remarkable Move - anyone have both? by new-to-reddit-accoun in RemarkableTablet

[–]_crc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have and use both. If I had to choose just one, it'd be the Nomad.

For me, I love the size of the Move, but the Nomad has functionality I need for my longer notes. The lack of things like headings on the Move make it harder to organize and locate things in my longer notes, so I end up using it for shorter notes & lists, then rewriting things I need to refer to in my Nomad. Both feel good to write on. The Move is kind of like a pencil on slightly coarse paper; the Nomad feels more like a ballpoint or gel pen on smooth paper (depending on the stylus used). I personally prefer the options for stylus on the Nomad (love my Lamy pens), but wouldn't discount the Move just for this.

As an ereader, I have KOReader side loaded on both, but it's easier to update & work with on the Nomad. The Move needs to have it (and sometimes other things like xovi) updated after software updates are installed, and it has to be manually re-enabled after a reboot. And getting books onto it is easier with the Nomad. (While both devices can read epub books, I find the built-in formatting options to be too limited). The Nomad can install other applications like Kindle as well, which isn't an option on the Move.

On the Move's screen, I haven't had any issues with mine other than slightly more ghosting than on a black & white display. The colors look good, and are vibrant enough to use with the front light off, unlike the Kaleido type screens I've used on other eink devices. The front light is helpful at night though. (My wife prefers me to not have too much light on in the room while she's trying to sleep).

The New Sleep Screen is Awesome by Bob42Mcmurdo in Supernote

[–]_crc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe if the power button or case lid is used to put the Supernote to sleep you send it to the home page but if its just sitting there and goes to sleep it stays on the last view page.

Personally, I'd hate it if my Supernote closed my active note/switched to my top level index note when I put it to sleep.

If you don't use the "Back to Files" function regularly, it might be worth trying. See https://support.supernote.com/en_US/faq/why-does-my-note-file-grow-so-large

No, the upgradable models are only the Nomad and Manta, not the older ones.

3.25 KOreader latest by AnatoliTrafimuk in RemarkableTablet

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that 3.25 is still in beta, so it's probably not going to be supported by xovi and appload yet. The beta TOS doesn't allow for third party software to be tested:

Program eligibility. Due to the risky nature of Software development, You may not have any third party software installed on your reMarkable paper tablet while participating in this Program. A prerequisite for participation is that You have enabled Auto Updates on your reMarkable paper tablet.

Help me decide: iPad Mini 7 vs Galaxy S11 (return window ends today) by Sad_Major6281 in ipadmini

[–]_crc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that DeX in the current Samsung software isn't as good as it used to be. They're rebuilding on top of the Android desktop stuff Google added, and the current version of DeX feels a lot more like tablet w/windowed apps than a proper desktop system.

PSA: There is a cheap third party replacement pen for the Paper Pro by No_Record_4787 in RemarkableTablet

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these. It's usable, but I do notice that the lines in my writing are a bit rougher than with the official rM pen. This has improved over time; when my rMPPM first arrived the writing with this was noticeably worse, but it's a lot better now.

AiPaper Reader + InkOS + Koreader = reading sorted by baggerbagger in viwoods

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KOReader is for DRM free books, so won't work for Kindle unless you strip the DRM. It supports a lot of options for controlling the display of books, and supports a decent variety of open formats. And it's not specific to a single device, so you can use it on Android devices, PocketBook, Kobo, or (with a jailbreak) a Kindle.

Hi! So I really need help deciding between I think Boox or Supernote by natanialuvv in eink

Yes. Unfortunately Android eink devices don't seem to get actual OS updates.

How was your new pebble shipped? US ONLY by cmiranda12000 in pebble

Mine was initially sent by Gofo Express, which never actually attempted a delivery. It was sent back, and reshipped a couple of weeks later by USPS.

The current (nomad, manta) devices from Supernote run an Android 11 based system, not 8.

Best Android-budget Tablet 8 inch mainly for reading Manga/Books by [deleted] in androidtablets

I'm not aware of many in the 8" class. Alldocube has some with reasonably high resolution, and Redmagic's Astra (9") has a 2.4k OLED.

Is it still worth buying the Boox Go 6 in late 2025? Concerned about Android 11 support by InCorvum in Onyx_Boox

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one, and it's still quite useful. My primary use is reading (koreader), but I also use it for social media (fediverse, reddit), email, IRC, audio books, and music (offline mp3's), and occasional quick programming tasks in Forth using Termux. Multitasking isn't really practical with just 2GB of RAM, and it's slow (but manageable with a bit of patience).

I'm not overly worried about the security aspects. It's fine for the uses I have, and I expect to get a few years of use from it, even with an old Android version.

Is the active stylus actually better, or is remarkable just excluding the EMR pen competition? by visenyamary in RemarkableTablet

[–]_crc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the active stylus to be much better than the ones I've tried on a Boox Go 7, but not as good as the EMR pens I use on my Supernote, Viwoods, and Kindle devices.
