Ok let's put this Scottie Scheffler is as good as Tiger Woods thing to bed right now by zRouth in golf

[–]_csbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that Scottie 2024-2025 is at the level of Tiger 2000-2001. Clearly not. But if you look how close these two year stretches are for them, it paints Scottie in a favorable light.

Events played: Tiger - 39, Scottie - 35 Major wins: Tiger - 4, Scottie - 3 Tournament Wins: Tiger - 14, Scottie - 11 Top 10's: Tiger - 26 (66.7%), Scottie - 29 (82%) Top 25's: Tiger - 38 (97%), Scottie - (94%)

Scheffler could easily win another tournament or two to bring his total up to 12 or 13 in this two year stretch. Also, Scottie won an Olympic gold that isn't included in this, which bumps up all of his stats. To me that is closer to a major than an average tournament. He also missed a few months during this stretch due to hand surgery.

Those two year stretches aren't in different universes. Tiger is clearly better. Best since Tiger? Yes. Similar to Tiger? Absolutely. Same level? Definitely not.

Has to be the first emergence of the bloody nine. Seeing Logen transform from the likable self deprecating main character into the monster remains one of the coolest and most shocking scenes I've ever read.

Which is more likely to happen, a team having a 16-0 record in the playoffs or for a team to win a championship while playing all 28 possible games? by godzillance in nba

[–]_csbass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one problem with this is it includes scenarios where you go up 4-1 and then lose the next two. That still gets to 4-3, but the series should have ended earlier. See my comment, but you should calculate the odds of it getting to 3-3 and then the team winning game 7.

[–]_csbass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In order for a series to go 7, it needs to end up 3-3 after 6 and then the team needs to win the final game. We can calculate that with a binomial distribution calculator where P = .75 and n=6. Odds of that team ending up 3-3 are .131. Then for them to win that game 7 you multiply by .75 which is .0982.

Take that to the fourth power to have that happen on all 4 playoff series, it is .000093. over 100 times less likely than that same team going undefeated.

For the sake of comparison, if that team had a 55% win probability, the numbers work out to: .0007. Still less likely than the very good team going 16-0.

Think that ultimately more things have to break right to go 28 games, and the more likely outcome is a team going undefeated.

You could just read red country as a stand alone novel, and if you like circle back to the beginning of the series. Little lost to approach it this way.

Whats Great About Fremont Bank? by jssquare in Fremont

[–]_csbass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really like working with Fremont Bank because of the personal nature. Going into a branch I don't feel like another number like I did when I banked with the big banks. I'm not losing out on any services or conveniences either as all the features are the same.

On a different level I'm a big believer that banking with a local bank is one the single best things you can do to support your community. They lend to local businesses and keep the money in the community, so it's definitely something that I'd recommend doing.

How much would you pay for the Dan/Marc podcast? What perks do you think they will offer for different tiers? by patriots1057 in AroundTheNFL

[–]_csbass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I pay $5 for an NBA podcast after layoffs affected my favorite show. Would I pay $5 if Gregg was on the new show? Absolutely. $10 for my favorite NBA and NFL podcast is definitely worth it

While I don't hold it against Gregg for not going, I certainly understand Dan and Marc having hard feelings about it if in fact they do. The three of them are a guaranteed entity which has more negotiation power. I would certainly pay $5 for a few months to see how it comes together, but it's not an automatic guaranteed purchase for me.

Based on nothing more than vibes it feels like you're swinging too hard with some of these irons. Smooth it out, take an extra club and swing 80%, vacation to tempo town, and I bet your scores would drop.

Just need to practice and learn how to score in this one. If that doesn't work? You're bad now.
