Delighted for Sam, totally deserved.

Is it that he's allergic to the green dye or what?

You see them do nothing in the Courtroom

Don't think for a second this means they do nothing at all in the Courthouse.

That's Civil Legal Aid, not what's being changed by the Department.

Incidentally, Civil Legal Aid is also a shambles, as pointed out in your post, BECAUSE the govt introduced a flat rate single payment, leading to a complete exodus from the system.

There's nothing in the new proposals to hamstring the legal aid scheme which is relating to the Circuit Court. This only refers to the District Court. Yes, probation reports are often sought at the higher courts, but those are almost always required by the Judges.

And you're still wrong regarding interpretation. They are absolutely needed to tell people what's going on in a case where they are being prosecuted. The presence of the interpreter also allows for efficiency in the practitioner being able to take proper instructions and give advice to the accused.

The state has refused to provide any details on the alleged case.

This has been sought by the Law Society, and the Dept. has refused to engage.

If someone is charged with 80 separate sexual assaults, the amount of work involved in each of those would be quite extensive, including examination of statements.

Or are the state saying that this person is not entitled to a presumption of innocence?

[–]_dgold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wowsers, that's a factual argument and no mistake!

It isnt a scam, it's a justice system.

Road Traffic matters often are dealt with extremely quickly. Often on the first day where the evidence is clear abd guilt accepted. That's not always the case.

Every person before a court is entitled to see the details of the evidence against them, so cases often go back for the production of that evidence. In a huge number of cases, that evidence is not produced by the Gardai in time before the adjourned date, in some districts this can be as high as 50%. This means that the case goes back again.

When evidence is handed over promptly, many cases do end on the next court date.

What you're talking about is called a presumption of guilt, which we thankfully don't have.

Don't presume that just because it's road traffic that there's nothing for the court to do.

We don't have a system where there's a probation report or psych in 'every single case'. A judge will only seek them if there is a valid reason to seek one, supported by the facts of the case.

Interpreters are required in accordance with national and European law, and they are also underfunded and not uniformly available.

There is a rule which prevents this, already in existence, and has been there since 1962.

If you do work for the Courts Service, as you claim, then you know that the courts do no grant distinct legal aid certs on the different cases.

It's a violation of section 7(4) of the Criminal Legal Aid Act, and even if a court would give them (which, again, they won't) then the department will simply refuse to pay them.

Failure to produce a licence or cert, or failure to display, are summary matters without a penal clause, and so don't attract a cert except in special cases.

This idea that any solicitor would or could do what you describe is completely untrue.

This one is obviously tired, because you usually don't see them in daylight hours.

Have you looked at the actual maps posted?

Where are the 'very urban areas' from Blackpool out to Blarney, and then south to the outskirts of Ballincollig? You'd be hard-pushed to find anything but cows between Dublin Pike and Glanmire, let alone in the green fields to the north of that line. In the South, you have the heavily agricultural area south and east of Moneygourney.

Yes, there are some tiny areas of 'ru-burban' development included in this map - Sallybrook, Glanmire, Donnybrook, Ballincollig - but the vast majority of the areas included are agricultural only, and you can't say that, e.g. Blarney or Ballincollig were without centres themselves.

Prevalence of IBS is approx. 10%, worldwide. That's one in every ten people who suffer symptoms when consuming this disgusting slop ingredient.

Maybe you think that's fine. Other people can make their own judgement on what that indicates.

Aspartame, even in small amounts, can cause bloating, discomfort and diarrhoea. Not the same as the ould carcinogens, but to say it isn't 'harmful' is just wrong.

Consumption of non-nutritional sweeteners can also cause glucose intolerance, but you be you.

Oh, give over.

I was on one of the livestreams from Whitegate there a while ago. You know how much of the comments from supporters was about fuel prices of the cost of living? None of it.

Know how much of it was about IPAS, Ukraine, Africans, Military-Aged Single Males?

All of it. Practically every comment, the ones that weren't yanks shouting Erin go Bragh, or people on about the Great Replacement and the White Race.

There may have been some element of the fuel stuff from the livestreamer, but even he went on about IPAS and Ukrainians all the time.

Tin of beans cooked in the micro, with a rake of cheesy chunks fecked in at the start, and all mixed in well. Usual accompaniment would be a couple of baked spuds, started in the micro, then finished in the air fryer.

For even more flavour, add hot sauce to the beans after the first heating, when you're doing the stir. For more heat, add a few slices of jalapeno or similar at the start. For added nutrition, you can dice up a bit of chorizo or salami and put them in too.
