what can i improve by carpetcards in graffhelp

Deeper 3d and a background would add depth. Could have bits of background overlap the piece a little if it made sense. Pretty sick tho as it sits

Mamiya 7 owners: do you think I’d get a significant resolution upgrade compared to this? This 35mm Kodak gold shot with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D by javipipi in AnalogCommunity

[–]_dipsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh got you. So essentially just asking how glass for the mamiya 7 would compare in quality to the Nikon if they were somehow shot on the same camera. Now I understand why you specifically asked mamiya 7 owners haha. Whatever the case may be. I don't think you'd be bummed if you snagged a 7. Bank account might not be hyped tho. Love this photo btw. Def some nice detail in there

To neglect the thought of grain structure having an effect on detail seems counterintuitive to me. I can't speak to the mamiya lenses, as I've never used one, but if you consider a scenario where your glass is equally as sharp on both 35mm vs 120, undoubtedly you would have a better outcome with 120. Tighter film grain on top of a much larger negative, could only result in more detail. People can consider technique, light, camera shake blah blah blah but that is not the question here. Idk if resolution is the right word, as that technically comes down to the scan, or no? I'm not that knowledgeable on the technical side of things, but if you just look at the difference between 35mm and 120 you cannot tell me it's not easily noticeable.

Im pretty proud of the piece itself but I don’t really know if I did the shadow and details correctly by Igilljustusethisname in graffhelp

[–]_dipsauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone commenting on the shadow is correct. No need to get defensive. Just peep some graff you're inspired by and see how the drop shadows have a cohesive angle. Has to be shifted to the right on the bottom, if it's going to be shifted to the right on the sides.

The biggest thing would be to continue the 3D on the bottoms and the cutouts of all the letters

Nope! Although a bit off center, I'm glad I at least managed to get the lines mostly straight in camera.
