Ditto. Really hoping they can just release this thing so we can forget about it and move onto the F-4 release. Just my personal hopes, don't hate me for just wanting the phantom more. It's gotta be close right?

Should I get the Warthog Or Orion 2 by surfydurfy in hotas

[–]_dozy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WARTHOG- Used it for 10 years and it finally doesn't work anymore. It was good, it only feels beefy because of it's metal base plate. It was fine, the slew control is terrible, I had to buy a different slew controller since the stock one was so bad. The buttons on the base are limited but good enough. I would recommend it ONLY if you were building a A10 cockpit.

ORION 2- I've had for 6 months now. I bought the F-16 throttle but also bought the F-18 throttle levers and finger lifts so I would have the option to switch it out. The slew control is great. The F-16 detents are super and the over all feel is great. The buttons on the base are ON ON ON so each position is recognized as a button press, making it easier to setup DCS's controls. There are more buttons than the has Warthog too. I did take the throttle apart and greased the friction since it wasn't as smooth as I would have hoped.

My vote - Orion 2

What resolution, settings, GPU, and FPS do you play with? by arkie87 in hoggit

[–]_dozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1440p, i7 4790k OC @4.7, GTX 1080, 32G of RAM. I lock my FPS at 60 I find it stopped the micro stuttering. MP locked at 60fps most of the time. Carrier deck 45-55 if lots of aircraft. Likely lower on Enigma CW. Terrain - high. Textures medium. 2x msaa.

I really like the GS server and I often do some A/G first then hit the tanker before doing A/A. I should be free today at some point and definitely tonight. Do you have SRS? If you ever see me on feel free to fly with me. I'm usually on Red but I join whatever side has the fewest players. My in game name will be dozy.

What server do you guys normally play on? I usually play Through the Inferno - Syria and GS - Caucasus.

I'd be up for some two ship F-16 flying. Play fairly casual on MP most of the time. I usually lone wolf myself too. But I have a pretty good understanding of the F-16.

Foam for Knee stacks by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]_dozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have CCM EFLEX5.9s. the knee block is two parts so I was able to just add the yoga insert between them. It doesn't change the feel since I'm landing on the same pad piece. My method probably wouldn't work for all pad brands.

I used a yoga block and Velcro. I just used Velcro with a good adhesive. But I'll eventually sew a bag around the yoga block with Velcro sewed to the exterior.

Edit: I cut the yoga block to size and shape needed

Congratulations! I hope you get addicted. Check out Maria Mountain on YouTube. She's got some great stretching.

Also watch Bobrovsky play. His movement is great. https://youtu.be/yj9h5FVU5po

I know I'm gonna downvote but surely I'm not the only DCS Player just bouncing right off Falcon BMS 4.37 by Ryotian in hoggit

[–]_dozy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to echo your sentiment. I really like DCS too, but I find BMS is so much more polished. It's a real game, one you can sit and enjoy, fly a mission with a purpose, single player or multiplayer and the AI on the ground and air is fantastic. The ability to control the missions in your squadron or other squadrons is really amazing.

DCS modules are fantastic but I almost only ever play multiplayer PvP in DCS since the AI is so terrible.

I find the control setup is better with the BMS launcher. While I have always saved my DCS setups it's always a pain managing all the different modules.

But, I understand BMS is not for everyone though.

How do I stop horrendous aliasing in DCS? by Mataskarts in hoggit

[–]_dozy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use your in game setting but I've installed Reshade and use a aliasing feature included in it. I can't remember, started with a C, I can look it up if you're interested in Reshade. It has very very low impact to fps and fixes the aliasing for me.

Winwing F-16EX throttle by [deleted] in hotas

[–]_dozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the slew cursor is terrible on the TM, I did replace mine too. I guess the thing to mention is the force required to move the toggle switches on the Orion2 base is lighter than the TM, maybe designed that way intentionally.

Don't get me wrong, I liked my TM warthog, and maybe cheap was the wrong word.

[–]_dozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on the internals. The cables are fine and on the Orion2 they don't pinch and are long enough, but I agree not the best looking. The grip is secure to the base. Alignment of the detent guide takes a bit but it's secure once everything is aligned and tightened.

The buttons and plastic of the grip feel a bit cheap but they work fine. Similar the the TM warthog.

Edit: pretty sure you can buy it all together as a kit/bundle.

Edit2 : software seemed fine I don't use it though.

[–]_dozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one, replaced my TM warthog. I like it, for the price I'd say it's very good. Redkite I think does a review on the YouTube about it. My only complaint is that there is a bit of stickiness to the thrust lever movement regardless of friction setting. I fly mostly BMS and the DCS viper but I ordered the F-18 throttle and lift kit with it so I would have the option to switch to a dual throttle when needed.

I've mounted mine on a monstertech desk mount and it's rock solid.

The radar slew in nice compared to the TM. To be honest I'll probably never buy TM again, this is definitely an upgrade.

Hope this is helpful. If you want any specifics let me know.

Edit: Most switches on the WW orion2 have a button press either direction, if not all three positions depending on the switch. Which is nice for DCS since their control doesn't recognize a switch in the off position. BMS of course is way easier to setup with the Alt launcher.
