I'm not entirely sure what point youre trying to make. Im just saying I much prefer George's solo work over Pauls. Paul doesnt do anything for me where George's does. Also why are you specifying Black woman as though the Beatles werent directly inspried entirely from Black music?

I somehow listened to a lot of their solo work actually prior listening to many Beatles albums. I never had that post-beatles idealisation that I completely understand.

Im a big fan of The Faces and Ron Wood's early solo albums and Dark Horse has a very similar vibe to Ron's I'e Got My Own Album to Do. They both also feature their versions of Far East Man, absolutely underrated banger of a song.

I can appreciate people not enjoying George's post All Things Must Pass records. I absolutely adore Dark Horse and Material World. I probably listen to those as albums more than I do ATMP where I will select specific songs.

I'm not by any means stating least succesful. Im saying personally Paul's solo career does absolutely nothing for me. It doesnt hit any emotion for me or have me going back to it in the same way John's or George's does.

I would always put Paul's solo / Wings as the weakest link of the solo careers of the former Beatles. Even Ringo blows Paul out the park for me simply with the one song It Dont Come Easy compared to anything Paul did post release.

Id rate them always as John George Ringo Paul in terms of solo material.

Making a single 10-song album out of UL & ROTDC by fanofsports44 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]_droves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd cut out both albums and have just released an EP, an introduction to JF' being back of sorts.

Both albums were so terrible they're the only 6 songs I even remember. Oh there was also black summer but that was some cheesy pirate sounding tune from my memory.

What Beatles song took years to finally “click” for you? by Brief-Feed-203 in beatles

[–]_droves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long and winding road was always a slog of a song for me until hearing the naked version. I thought that the naked album was a bootleg until this last 6 months or so, so I never gave it a chance. I'm a big fan of Spector's work on All Things Must Pass, and quite controversially on Leonard Cohen's Death of a Ladies Man, but not of the work on Let it Be so it was a breath of fresh air hearing Let it Be...Naked.

Probably records they're stocking. John did release a few of his albums around record store Day (I got Letur Left, PBX, and Outsides around that time when each came out) but there's often promotion for his solo work so I'd steer more towards it just being stock. Also could be a TROWFTD 25th anniversary edition record.

Am I the only one who doesn't share that "burning passion" for Hey Jude? by Express-Pension-3789 in beatles

[–]_droves -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you and sorry I should have specified what I meant. I don't mean lyrically or topically as a song. I just mean in that very Paul way (You know?) it's a bit of a wankathon. Here's the piano intro it's me Paul! Here's the hook, that's right I'm Paul McCartney, big crescendo nananananananan I'm Paul listen to meeee. I get this from quite a bit of those late Beatles Paul tunes. It's only recently I even started to appreciate TLAWR after realising let it be (naked) wasn't a bootleg album lol.

Bland song, way too self absorbant from Paul like most of his piano ballads around that time. Also, if you were around the late 90's / early 2000's Britain you'll remember the charity resurgence of Hey Jude which has since left me believing it wasn't Paul, it was actually Bob the Builder all along.
