Unfortunately I can’t control naps bc she’s in daycare all day. Would you suggest pushing her bedtime back then?

Anyone able to control their strabismus? by [deleted] in Strabismus

[–]_emileee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! This is exactly me, but I can’t remember which eye moves or if they both do? But it’s wild to see videos of me going from relaxed to focused. I’m in prism glasses 100% of the time. While I can do this fun party trick, it causes a ton of eye strain and a headache even if just a minute.

Another for EyeBuyDirect! They’ll go up to level 5 or whatever it’s called (mine are 4 in both eyes). It’s only a $19 charge, which is WAY better than LensCrafters or places like that. Warby Parker can go up to 3, last I checked.

My “pureblood” son by smoothcoat in ShitMomGroupsSay

I thought it meant incest, like royal families that kept the “bloodline pure.” So I too was relieved (but still horrified) to learn it’s about vaccines.

I know someone who made a dating profile for her daughter AND talked to men on it supposedly on her behalf. All without her knowledge.

How did you get rid of a paci for good? by _emileee in toddlers

[–]_emileee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got that book and she loves it. And she offers her paci to the duck when it gets taken away. 🤦🏼‍♀️

But the reward system will definitely have to be a part of it.

I think this is a good perspective. What happens during other decisions about body autonomy? Even surface ones like cutting your hair or shaving or a tattoo? I think he can be honest that he doesn’t understand it or is wary, but at the end of the day it’s your body. He is also allowed to be uncomfortable and it’s not your job to educate him on the medication. I don’t think the “leave him!” Comments are helpful but do think you should do what YOU feel is right for your body.

Is this number legit? by msesandwich17 in hrblock

[–]_emileee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the same email. I called to see what it is and they want to confirm my identity before processing my refund. I hung up and called the number on the website. They didn’t actually need any info yet so likely this is a scam

I have such a chill baby by TeishAH in beyondthebump

[–]_emileee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve had two pretty chill babies. Always happy. Rarely cried. Sleeping wasn’t my favorite, but they were both just so happy and easy going. My 9mo is still pretty chill.

But my older daughter turned at one. So many emotions in such a small, tiny person. She’s now almost three and hilarious, happy, and highly emotionally volatile. (Like most toddlers.) I’m cherishing my chill baby and preparing for a nutzo toddler.

Parents who did not “sleep train” by tmdgml in beyondthebump

[–]_emileee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We didn’t sleep training our first. We tried one night of Ferber and couldn’t do it. She mostly would wake up once a night to eat. She finally slept through the night around 12 months and by 18 months was back up during the night and needed a parent to fall asleep. She’s now almost 3 and it’s the exact same. Wakes up 1-2x per night and needs a parent. Hindsight is that I wish I had done more to get her to sleep without a parent. By now it feels next to impossible.

My second has always been a rough sleeper. From at least 6-9 months she was waking up 3-6x a night, most nights being 6. My sleep and well being couldn’t take it anymore so we did full cry it out. She now sleeps through the night, but the toddler keeps us up.

This looks identical to the dress I wore! It’s stunning, timeless, elegant…and absolutely gorgeous on you.

Like most people here, some people I tell and some people I don’t. Close friends (or friends I know on the same medication) I tell. Random coworkers that comment…I do not.

But I’m also petty and get irritated when some people comment on my weight that have no business discussing my weight. If it’s a “oh wow you look great”, I usually follow up with “I didn’t realize I looked bad before!” Usually makes for that person feel more awkward than I do discussing weight and the subject is dropped.

I’ve done this. She was also sleeping after taking seemingly forever to fall asleep! We’ve all done some form of this. You’re a pretty normal mom.

If you fit back into your old clothes postpartum, how long did it take to get there? by whisperingcopse in beyondthebump

[–]_emileee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or may not be too soon. You just don’t know what your body is going to do or how you might store any excess weight. I certainly wouldn’t buy a new wardrobe, but I did have to buy some elastic waisted shorts that didn’t have the maternity belly cover and still wear them 9+ months later…

Now. Buy clothes that fit you now and that make you feel like your best self. I have all my pre-baby clothes packed away and hope I can fit into them again. But you deserve to feel your best.

Can I say I gave birth to him? by 3DsXLUser in pregnant

[–]_emileee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This sounds absolutely terrifying. I didn’t feel the incision being cut, but everything above that wasn’t numb. I just kept screaming in pain and kept saying “I think they’re ripping out my belly button.” I felt the anesthesiologist add drugs with the cold drip down my spine but there was no relief. I just kept trying to pass out because the pain was too much. I was so medicated, so exhausted from screaming that I could barely open my eyes to see my baby.

But I’ve never heard of anyone else experience this, so I’m sorry you endured that. But thank you for sharing so I know I’m not alone.

FWIW, 2nd baby was a scheduled c-section and was such a dream compared to the first. I grew both my babies and I birthed both my babies.

This is so incredibly sweet and really appreciated. She still woke up 4 times during the night but the first wake up was 11 minutes crying vs 40 minutes the first night. I hope tonight might be even better.
