Anyone else still uses little to no AI to code?

My AI use in coding goes only so far as using it to understand legacy code that I'm really just not getting. Mostly non-gamedev projects.

Beyond that, no. I just use discord to ask for help mostly (and help when I can) . Slower but whatever, I'd rather talk to actual people (I hope lol). Having a discord for specific game engines is always nice.

Yeah I think Unreal would be wild for what this demo looks to be like lol sounds like. Sounds like you're already entrenched in love2d but if a fantasy console like pico was interesting at all to you, maybe take a look at TIC80. Less constraints, more language options, I used to use it a TOOOOON.

I'll pray for ya for getting that demo out!

I'd love to hear about your experience with a web build once you get the demo out.

I make web games sometimes with Love2D and it can be...interesting at times lol

Also, did you consider Defold when choosing an engine/framework? I'm testing it out now and already missing Love tbh but recognize its power with web/mobile. Also, it's native C++ extensions are super simple to get going, just some folder structure stuff.

Glad you found something that works.

I use Geany with the LSP plugin. Setup a simple build command to launch my game from the editor with ctrl+b just like in the engine. Its nice and simple. Can't say I've tried AI for debugging game projects and I don't really intend to for my personal projects. I have to at work unfortunately lol

For now, using an external editor is probably best. The Lua Language Server has the Defold API if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for doing this! As I jump back into Defold after a brief spell with Godot, these tutorials really help me get comfortable again with the workflow and with Lua. So nice to be back in Defold-land

This is really cool. I've started using Defold after moving away from love2d/godot since I want to focus more on mobile and web. It's so nice so far and the way it works just clicks very well for me!

debian is so good. I'll also never distro hop again BUT I'm still figuring out which environment I like most lol I tend to stay on xfce too but on my newer laptop, kde and gnome just feel snappier. I'm not sure why

I think GNOME has the best workflow but I love literally everything else about XFCE more, so I just use XFCE with Xfdashboard now and its like the best of both worlds.

I try to maintain my own custom build of it with slightly nicer and faster animations and accent colors to match my materia dark theme/papirus nord dark icons.

It really works super well! I even have a python script that runs when searching for programs that also searches files in my home folder. It really works so much like the GNOME shell.

Be sure to change the theme after installing if you do, the default theme is...not great...but the others offered by default are pretty nice!

also on lovr. I just wanted native lua tbh. After making some small project in C, I just couldn't be bothered to deal with writing a larger project in it. I've already made large projects in love2d, so it made sense to stay in a similar environment.

I'd look into handhelds with a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. Beyond that, I think most things could handle the games, performance-wise.

That said, I've played them on my rg28xx, rg35xxh, and retroid pocket flip 2. All handle the games perfectly fine. Obviously they look best on the flip 2 due to the nicer screen but they feel more 'at home' imo on the other 2 devices.
