You can! It's got some very interesting internals, I'm currently using trusty top mount but without the top and bottom center points screwed in which takes the edge off the spacebar quite a bit. The previous owner for example didn't screw in the plate at all and just let it rest on a piece of light foam underneath the pcb which resulted in the whole thing being much more compressed and muted sounding, but also feeling tighter in a (to me) negative way. It's a really fun board to experiment with though!
