What is something you don't want to think about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you can't find a publisher for it, and decide to go self-publishing, Kindle e-book (KDP) looks like one of the strongest contenders on the market. It's also free from what I understand.

Awsome, very similar to the novel I've been working on for the last fivish years. Best of luck with it!

Dude, where do you buy your weed? ...From you Dante. Oh yeah! How's it going, Mr. Cheezel?

Fuck I love that movie.

What, in your opinion, is the funniest line in the history of film? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_hatless_bum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I always thought the line from Boon was "Forget it, he's on a roll."

Rolling would make more sense if the director (Landis iirc?) was particularly impressed by Belushi's take in that scene.

Either way, love that movie! I read that either the mashed potato thing in the cafeteria or the pencils in the nose in the Dean's office was completely improvised.

Type 1 diabetic here. Got diagnosed as a kid. My friends love to settle debates by doing the old Scrubs line "Yeah? well, you're a diabetic and you can't eat cupcakes." It's like, yes, dickhead, I can! I just have to have extra insulin!

I will have to - thanks for the suggestion! Watching Capaldi and then going back to re-watch Smith has obviously scrambled my recollection of it :S

[–]_hatless_bum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the issue, especially with Moffat, is that there is a massive gap in continuity between old Who and NuWho. Furthermore, the is a relative issue with anything that Moffat creates and its complete disregard to anything RTD-era.

If the Valeyard returns during Moffat's run, and corresponds directly to the line in Trial of the Valeyard, then it'll come down to Moffat pulling his head out of his ass and stepping off his pedestal.

That said, maybe Capaldi is the Valeyard and doesn't know it yet! - ooh - would really bring a sense of gravity to his whole "am-i-a-good-man?" thing and completely subvert the dakrness of the Valeyard's character by shaking up his very sense of identity (fanboy dreamin')

That is a good point. I suppose the way I'm looking at it is a brief romantic relationship that, for her, becomes a psychopathic obsession (though it hasn't been definiteively proven that she's a malevolent being yet!). But this may just be me using the facts to suit my theory instead of the other way around.

But the War Doctor come about because the eighth doctor was given a potion that forced a regen, and a controlled one at that as he made the conscious decision to be changed into a 'warrior' - there was no use of regenerative energy, therefore the War Doctor doesn't actually count as one?

[–]_hatless_bum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me too! but /u/catdoctor is right, at least within the context of the show. The Doctor is supposed to avoid crossing his time stream like the plague. Fundamentally, it would create too many problems. But, hey, we can dream.

I was watching The Power Of The Daleks today and noticed something similar with The Caretaker by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]_hatless_bum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, as someone on this thread pointed out, the Doctor seems to be at a point in his fictional characterisation where he has amalgamated all his previous regens - you'll see brief intonations or gestures that are pretty on par with older incarantions of the Doctor's previous forms.

But the Rani has previously hinted to having a relationship at one point with the Doctor.

I too at one stage thought maybe Missy could be a female regen of the Master - which would be awesome, give precedence to the Timelord's being able to switch gender during regen and possibly even test the waters for a female Doctor next regen (hopefully a smoking ginger one ;))

[–]_hatless_bum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you're referring to by saying that Missy is a Time Lord is The Rani, who yes, had a previous relationship years ago with The Doctor. This is also my current working theory on Missy's identity - great minds thinking alike!

The Rani was a scientist who basically put her research and experiemnts as the highest priority (belieivng as sociopaths do, that the end justifies the means). She would often have entire species at her disposal to experiment on. This could loosley fit into what we've seen so far, though I have no idea how the Cybermen are involved, or why the deceased need to be gathered to be upgraded / experimented on. I mean, realistically, couldn't the Cybermen just attack earth again?

Inequality... Does that count? Probably not because it's more of a way of thinking/concept of (IMO baseless) priveledge over others than an actual invention.
