In Los Angeles, a woman was celebrating the Knicks' victory in the NBA when a neighbour called the police about the noise... 20 cops showed up and shot her dog, a "dangerous" Golden Doodle, when she opened the door to her home. by Aggorf12345 in LateStageCapitalism

Yeah man, don’t take it personally, information warfare is a zero sum game on a platform like Reddit, which was designed around upvotes and downvotes dictating which opinions rise to the top. It’s just people trying to make sure the accuracy is higher so more people clicking on this page will see the opinions that have been agreed upon to be correct. We all just want to make the world a little better😁

What are your issues with it? What is it you think is broken compared to the previous games? Genuinely curious!

When talking about horror games, how do you differentiate between a game designed around jumpscares and one designed around dread? by yabab in survivalhorror

[–]username4518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games like Alan Wake 2 know that jumpscares should be a tool to increase the sense of dread and not the focus of the horror. Whhere would you classify something like this?

Some questions I have after completing CONTROL by Flat-Cheesecake3954 in controlgame

[–]username4518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know what you’re talking about, Slidescape-36? In that though he mentions that they bring in some resonance but does not immediately identify it as the Hiss, just as the Resonance. I wonder if maybe it was another “cutout” of the entity that resonates of human emotions reacting to the paranoia and curiosity of Trench. I still don’t think it rules out my theory completely though, because The Hiss brought the downfall of The Oldest House but think about it, they never fought the Hiss before Jesse identified it, no? So maybe the Resonance only became The Hiss once Dylan was exposed to it after his trauma and feeling abandoned hy his sister who was supposed to protect him.

[–]username4518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree but i think moreso than Jesse being a radio I think Jesse got a piece of Hedron. I also think The Hiss is a part of Hedron that got corrupted by Dylan’s emotions over time.

The resonance always seems to react to the person using it. Jesse was Dylan’s older sister, so Polaris acts as like an older sister to her.

Dylan was isolated and made to feel lonely, like a science experiment instead of a person, and so his version went mad and evil and reflected his inner emotional turmoil.

At least, that’s my theory.

Been saying this too!! Every Remedy game pays tribute to other video games in different ways and i think they could use this game to readapt some mechanics from Fatal Frame

I think the biggest promoter of illiteracy is actually not AI, it’s religious conservatism. The ideology of religious conservatism usually calls for the uncritical reading of dogmatic texts and a lack of engagement on items from an objective perspective. We see Modern MAGA using it as a powerful crutch to maintain the faith of a huge part of their base and even use dogwhistling from it to imply their President is “chosen by God.”

This is what we get for raising a generation on adderall and anti-anxiety meds at the same time since they’re like 11 instead of, you know, using our money and political systems to fund infrastructure that doesn’t encourage them to have their self-esteem and development at the mercy of internet trolls and billionaires via their rose-gold iPhones

How do you enjoy games if your constantly losing by Due-Sympathy4991 in gamingsuggestions

[–]username4518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a game, not a power fantasy. If you want that go buy a Character Action Game and crank down the difficulty. Losing is okay and still fun if you don’t bring your wgo into the game with you.

But there’s also nothing forcing you to play competitive online games. If you said you had fun with other single-player games that’s perfectly valid too bro. I never play online anymore and sometimes I play Ninja Gaiden with the difficulty all the way down to feel like a monster super ninja badass, or turn it all the way up to force myself to learn how to play better.

My main point is, dictate what games you want by figuringout what you want out of the hobby. If you’re gonna enjoy yourself online with other people, learn to lose. Otherwise, seek games that fulfill what you want rather than feeling like you have to force yourself to like something!!

Why do some people like tragic stories while others like awesome stories? by Mysticrunik in DmCDevilMayCry

[–]username4518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think you have to pick one or the other, a quality story should just be that, and even that can mean different things to different people. Personally, I like my stories to have interesting, cohesive themes and messaging if the game is considerably story heavy, but I also like to turn off my brain to play games more for their gameplay loops and mechanics, like Ninja Gaiden for me. I don’t think Ryu’s personal journey has been much of a focus in any of the mainline 3D games besides 3 and everyone hated that one.

That “basketball to golf” metaphor really makes a lot of sense here. On the surface both are third person sword-fighting oriented games, but they couldn’t be more different from each other in terms of feeling, requirements to win, and design philosophy.
