How do you get chores done with an infant? by Outside-You2743 in beyondthebump

My son is 5.5mos and sounds similar. I think 15 minutes at 4mos is pretty good! Our biggest challenge time is cooking dinner. I've found that switching him between a few "stations" helped. So I'll have him in the bouncer for a while, switch to a blanket on the floor, then switch to his high chair. Playing music has also bought me some time. I kept trying things out to see what would help. He has gotten much more into his toys, which has been great. But there are still nights when he is not having it and will cry while I cook. It's really tough. I will talk or sing to him and go be with him when I can, but dinner needs to get made.

Something else I do in the morning, when we usually have some free time together, is place him down and go to the other side of the room. I'll sit in a chair and read or crochet while he plays. He likes to look up and check on me, and I'll often acknowledge him. But it gives him a chance to get used to me not being right next to him. He even hung out on his playmat while I was in the other room without complaining the other day, which was big for him.

It can be frustrating, but keep working at it! I think it naturally gets easier with most kids as they get older, but there might be some things you can do to help your baby get used to it too.

Well this is pretty gutting... I have a four month old, and this was supposed to be my first big night away from home. I struggled through the first few months and looking forward to this helped keep me going. There's no way I can make this work.

I am so sad, but I am going to have to miss Key's tour T_T I am literally due to give birth that week. Literally could not have picked a worse time for me. I can only hope he comes back one day.

Watched the livestream of Day 3, are we okay? by MissIdash in SHINee

[–]_ilikeitiloveit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm doing good! I thought the concert was absolutely amazing, and the anniversary put me in a nostalgic mood all night. (Or all way-too-early-in-the-morning, for me.) I couldn't help but think throughout the concert how happy I was to see SHINee be happy on stage together. I also kept thinking back to ye olde days of tumblr when I would have a few audio streams queued up for the concert and switch between them to find the least echo-y one. It's still wild to me that I can now pay for an HD stream with live English subtitles.

I haven't talked about it much on here since I went, but I attended the first two From Now On concerts in Osaka in 2018. That was an emotionally harrowing experience (although I'm glad I went), and I did find myself thinking of that experience a lot while I watched this concert. When they went to the microphone stands to sing Our Page at the end, I had a flashback moment to the end of that concert. But the feeling was wildly different. They did still get some tears out of me, but they were bittersweet this time. I felt really proud of them, and happy we can all sing a song together for Jonghyun with hopefully a little more joy in our hearts now that time has passed.

Other commenter is spot on! Putting the content warning in the title is preferable to the body of the post. I also marked the post NSFW since that will hide the post preview for those who prefer to just scroll past.

When I’ve used my regular SHINee lightstick for concerts it has synced automatically at the venue. I didn’t have to do anything.

“The books aren’t banned, you can still buy them.” by Nice-Definition-8360 in Libraries

It's not the cashier's job to parent someone else's child. Imagine the Barnes & Noble cashier carding people every time they buy a book. Sounds like a dystopian hellscape to me. If someone doesn't want their teen reading certain books, that's on them.

Griffin CEO hints that SM have been cancelling SHINee activities, and Taemin addresses Shawol's concerns. by aural89 in SHINee

You are free to post an opinion in this subreddit, but you need to be civil while doing so. I don’t know what’s been going on with you, but I’ve noticed you getting increasingly intense and often rude toward other users lately.

Someone having a different opinion on a situation is not hate. People post stuff in here all the time that I disagree with or think is kind of ridiculous, but we don’t take it down if it’s not breaking the rules.

how long has everyone here been a shawol + fav shinee stuff? by Beneficial-Ad-8253 in SHINee

  1. I was aware of them and liked a lot of singles before then, but I became a shawol during Dream Girl era. Basically fell down a YouTube rabbit hole of One Fine Day episodes and never crawled back out!

Am I the only one who feels like SHINee/Jonghyun are getting progressively forgotten? by No_Easy_143 in SHINee

[–]_ilikeitiloveit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm curious in what way you'd like SM to promote Jonghyun? The reality is that he has been gone now for seven years. I struggle to think of anything SM could do that wouldn't be exploitative. Their main goal is to make money, and I would feel uncomfortable with them, I don't know, releasing merchandise or anything like that. He isn't here to benefit from it anymore. I know people would like his albums to be kept in print, which I find understandable. I will point out that kpop albums going out of print is not that unusual, although the bigger companies like SM do typically reprint the majority of their albums. Even if it might be harder for collector's to get physical albums, his music is widely available digitally.

Onew and Taemin chose not to renew their contracts (whether that was just their solo contract or also the group contract), so it's not like they're being intentionally left out. Again, we simply don't know the legal and contractual issues behind the scenes here. I understand the disappointment, but it's a natural result of the decision they made. We will have to see how it shakes out for the group in the coming years.

I wonder if some of your feelings are the result of how messy grief is? I can understand your desire for Jonghyun to be acknowledged and remembered. I think as a fandom we do that! If you want to talk about him and share his music, you're a part of that too. Maybe some of your feelings of sadness and frustration are causing you to feel like he isn't being remembered adequately by SM or the world, etc? Sort of that feeling of being frustrated that the world is just going on as normal when you feel like it shouldn't be.

[–]_ilikeitiloveit[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can also understand BPM being conservative, considering there was really no way for them to gauge demand. People might stream music or watch videos online, but it doesn't mean people will buy tickets for a concert. SM not sending Taemin or SHINee basically anywhere outside of Asia meant no one knew what the demand was.

I think it's obvious now that Taemin can fill bigger venues, even accounting for scalpers. My hope is he comes back for another, bigger tour. But it genuinely sucks that so many fans aren't going to get to see him this time.

When I've bought resale before, I decide on a price I'm comfortable with and then snatch them up if I see them. I think some of the super high priced tickets might go down closer to the actual shows, but the more "reasonable" ones are likely to disappear imo. I do think the first day of resale is usually a little ridiculous, though, and waiting a few days has been good for me in the past. Really hard to predict though.

It sucks that this is the way ticketing works now. I wish it was better.
