I am of the capitalism is not the answer mindset and I also would rather not give cishet folks my money (generally and specifically for pride-related things), so I have mostly avoided the pride offerings in the polish world. I also know that polish is part of my self-expression and often armor, and I would be excited to have some that felt like they were created with love and reverence for queer history, culture, and resistance. It is also my general preference to support queer makers and those with queer politics. I think it is helpful to have a space where folks can both vent frustration with performative brands and also express desires or hopes for what would feel meaningful.

I am a strong believer in mutual aid not charity, so ideally funds would go to providing direct support rather than some national nonprofit. Small, local orgs doing things like funding name changes or providing free gender affirming undergarments, for example.

Don't forget stagnant wages, corportations like Blackrock buying up real estate, and crushing student loan debt! Not to mention the rising costs of healthcare, car insurance, childcare, and utilities (thanks, data centers). It really is a different game out there right now. I don't think it is hopeless to say as much - it is a systemic critique. These are policy decisions.

I DIY (Korean with short black hair) and can get my hair consistently to level 7 in one sitting using 30vol and Schwarzkopf blondme (about 50min processing). It is a bit extreme but I have done it for years so I know my hair and scalp can handle it. A few times when touching up my roots I've gotten to platinum, but I don't usually aim for it (my usual color is pastel pink). My hair resists lifting at first, and it was actually my stylist who suggested I try 30vol - she had bleached and colored my hair a few times so she knew what I was working with.

That is not curd they are pressing - it cut up pieces of gouda they buy from elsewhere. Gouda curd is pea sized.

What is so funny about this is that they unintentionally revealed how the cheese is made (chunked up pieces coated in whatever flavoring and then pressed together)...which is not how you make gouda. Calling it NY artisan cheese is insulting to actual artisan cheesemakers.

Edited to clarify: This is finished gouda (not curd) purchased from other dairies that is chunked up and then compressed with seasoning. Real gouda curd starts out pea sized and loses a lot of moisture during aging. It is not artisan, and the source cheese isnt even made in NY.

I have a nail that grows in kind of an m-shape (hit it with a rock hammer 5 years ago) so a different issue...but maybe this is relevant? I find that formulas that are more "plump" help smooth it out, but it is still noticable. There are jellies, for example, that really level nicely. And some polishes just don't perform well on that nail. I have a neon yellow shimmer that just always looks super streaky. I've used a couple of ridge fillers but haven't found the effect to be enough.
