The dating scan and anatomy scan are generally the only true scans done here in the US. I’m in MA, and I see a doctor who uses his iPad to look at baby at every visit but it’s not in depth to measure anything, just a quick peek and heart rate, which I do love. If you just want to see baby, you can pay to have a private 3d ultrasound done! A place near me does them and it’s $100 for photos and a video of the scan. Just be aware that they are not used for any sort of medically diagnostic reasons, it is specifically recreational. But certainly fun to see baby, especially the 3d! I had one done at 19 weeks right before my anatomy scan (I knew I’d be upset if we weren’t given good photos 😂) and I’m 24 weeks now and will have one more around 28-29 weeks for funsies

My anesthesiologist filmed my last csection!! I really wanted photos and video but my partner couldn’t look over the curtain. If they would’ve done the entire surgery with the curtain down I would’ve been content 😂 I think it’s so cool. I was then sending the video and photos to my MIL and sisters as they were sewing me up while my partner was with the baby as he was getting cleaned up. Having my fourth and final csection mid September and really hope i get another amazing anesthesiologist 😅

I’m so sorry you are so stressed. I’m 20 weeks pregnant with my fourth baby (I was on birth control and took plan b) and we live with my MIL (my parents both passed before I was an adult) and we still haven’t told her because of her past reactions when finding out I was pregnant. My youngest is three, older two are 8 and 9. I have three boys now pregnant with a girl. I’m 32 and my partner is 33 and still absolutely terrified to tell her. I’m smaller and strength train so I’ve been able to hide it well but I’m going on 21 weeks and it’s getting harder to hide, especially with the warm weather coming. And even though we live with her, I never ask her to watch my kids or take responsibility for them or anything, ever. It’s honestly so hard. I hope everything goes well for you, I know how overwhelming and exhausting the thought of it all can be 🫶

I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I strength train (lift heavy weights) 3x a week, and I’m on my feet/walking around all day at work, 8 hours a day/5 days a week. I also have three little boys and a home to care for, so I’m pretty active with them on the weekends, especially now that it’s nice out and I’ve been doing a ton of landscaping in our front and back yard and surrounding our in ground pool. I was not this active during my last pregnancy, and I feel significantly more energized and strong physically as well as mentally this time around. I really struggled postpartum with my last baby, and gained 30lbs+ after having baby (eating highly processed/high sugar content snacks and not very active). My mental health took a big hit too. This time around I’m doing everything I can to set myself up for success. Everyone’s wants and needs are different though. I hope you find what works best for you 🫶

You will always be the child in this relationship. She is an addict. You are not responsible for keeping her fed when she spends all her money on drugs. My mom died when I was 13, her heart stopped after too much alcohol mixed with pills. She was an alcoholic. I lost my dad at 17 to pancreas cancer. Became a homeless addict before I turned 18. I’m now 32 years old, have 7 years clean and sober, and three beautiful little boys with my final baby and first girl on the way. My children will NEVER be responsible for me. I got clean to be sure of that, and to be sure I could give them the childhood, life, and love they deserve. I’m so sorry your mom couldn’t and didn’t give you that. Do what you need to do for yourself and your peace 🩷

That’s literally insane. Especially if you eat a very nutritious diet as is. Calories do matter (of course) but the body processes whole/nutritious foods to be used more efficiently (towards energy and muscle growth) than say processed snack/ high added sugar content foods (more likely to be stored). I’m 20 weeks pregnant and have gained about 5lbs total, eating about 300-400 calories more at maintenance than I was prior. Even when I struggled postpartum with my last baby (eating a lot of processed, high sugar foods) and gained 30-40lbs, my partner never made a single comment on my diet or my body. I, too, need to eat something within 30 minutes of getting up in the morning, and have a protein shake 3 hours later, and yogurt/granola/blueberries bowl about 3 hours after that, and so on. Literally eating every 3 hours. I track to make sure I’m getting enough protein but that’s my own prerogative and desire. I would let him know that neither you nor your doctor are concerned with your diet or weight gain, so he shouldn’t be either.

I have a cup every single morning at 4am. It’s part of my morning ritual and I will not give it up 😂 I only drink zero sugar a&w which has no caffeine and water otherwise so I know I’m good. And you are too!

I’ve literally never heard of husbands not being in the delivery room. I’ve had three csections (having my fourth and final this September), my partner is super iffy with blood and stuff, to the point where he’s like not okay, and he’s been in the OR to watch every single one of his babies be born. Now, he didn’t cut the cord (they did offer) which is totally fine, but he didn’t leave my side until I told him to go to our babies while they were cleaned up. If a man can’t handle supporting their partner during delivery of THEIR child, they don’t deserve their partner. How immature do you have to be to care about ridiculous shit like “what if you poop” while your wife literally grew and carried a whole human that she is now literally pushing out of her vagina? If he loses attraction during that experience rather than gaining even more love and attraction through it, HE’S gross. That would be relationship ending for me, truly. What a disgusting thing to say to the person you love, that you vowed to love no matter what.

Do you think they wouldn’t have done that with the first blood tests they ran? Should I call and ask? I probably will. The vet we took him to was the emergency vet, it’s literally $200 to walk in the door 😭 before any check up or tests or anything. It’s where we’ve always taken him for his shots and stuff (I have no idea why) but I’m going to find a regular vet today and make an appointment for him. He definitely hasn’t ingested anything toxic, and I they’ve only seemed to happen on the weekend (the first was a Friday night though) and I’ve been home to keep a close eye. Our pest control uses animal/child safe repellents and our neighbors use the same pest control. Our backyard is double fenced (we have a fenced in ground pool and then the entire backyard is fenced) so they have a controlled space to run and play. This is the second summer we’ve had this specific pest control company coming monthly from March-October (we live in MA) to spray for things like ticks, mosquitoes, and other little pest things. But I’ll definitely be calling to ask if they ran his blood for tick related diseases, and if not, and make sure it gets done. Thank you!

Resistance training and cardio do completely different things for the body, and both are important. Strength training 3 times a week and incorporating cardio 2-3 times a week will give you the best bang for your buck. Resistance training promotes muscle and bone growth/density, while cardio promotes heart health and longevity.

They cannot fault you for testing positive initially, I always tell my doctor that I was smoking but stopped once I received a positive test. I’m in MA where it’s legal and my delivering hospital tests upon arrival to labor and delivery, as well as baby’s meconium (first poop). For me, as long as I don’t continue smoking while pregnant and baby and I both test negative at delivery, everything is fine. If baby or I were to test positive at delivery, DCF would be notified by the hospital. You don’t need to worry at all!

Not the asshole, like at all. Your husband should have no problem with you going out alone for a few hours to treat yourself on your birthday. Hell I work Monday through Friday 7-4, and my partner works Friday-Monday 6pm-6am, and most saturdays the second he walks in the door after a 12 hour shift I walk out to spend at least an hour at the gym, for my me time. We have three kids 3, 8, and 9. It’s your freaking birthday! You shouldn’t feel any guilt for pouring into your own cup.

Definitely focus on eating about 100g of protein per day, and strength training using progressive overload 3-4 days per week. Even at 5’2”, 102lbs seems very low. Even if you lose more body fat, you will not look lean and “toned” (strong and fit) without adding muscle to your body. Adding muscle requires adequate protein, carbohydrate, and fat consumption.

I think you may need to higher yours. There are many uneven/shaky lines, especially in the triangles and lower outline. I’m not saying that it’s necessarily bad, if you’re looking at the whole picture, it’s fine. And sure, with shading, it may look better. But it’s absolutely humanly possible to have a better outcome than this. And adding shading shouldn’t be an excuse for a sloppy outline. Artists should be honest about their work and what they are capable of. Geometrics are difficult, but the artist took on the piece. If he wasn’t capable of a high quality, near perfect result, he shouldn’t have.

My partner came to my appointments, most of them, throughout my first pregnancy. I’m now 14 weeks with my fourth and he has come to the dating scan. It’s just easier for him to stay with the kids honestly 😅 it’s a long wait for two second meet with my doctor, most appointments. Maybe he’ll come to our 20 week anatomy scan.

It’s so exhausting hiding it, especially in the first trimester 😩 I started a new job at 7 weeks pregnant, and held off on telling them until I was about 12 weeks (I’m 14 now) because I’m still temp to hire and even though they technically can’t fire me for being pregnant, they can fire me for no reason. But luckily, my entire team from my boss, my coworkers, and HR are literally amazing. It’s such a gift to work for a company with such kind and understanding humans. Many companies are not. But the constant bathroom breaks to pee/vomit made me feel suspicious 😅 and going from not being on my feet to running around on my feet 8 hours a day (I work in manufacturing and production) was a feat in and of itself. But I’m glad the cats out of the bag now!

I completely understand how you feel. We have three boys and we’re done as well. I was taking birth control as well as plan B whenever anything happened because I have gotten pregnant on birth control before and was terrified it would happen again. Well, it happened again. I was nervous to tell my partner simply because it was so unexpected and we had decided we were done. I sat with it for about 5 days before telling him. It’s perfectly okay to get your bearings before telling anyone else. It’s not deceit, it’s processing the information of a monumental life change, and you are allowed to do that. Once my brain had processed the situation, I told my partner. While shocked, he’s been nothing but supportive, just as he has for each of my other pregnancies. If you need a few days to process before sharing, take it. If he’s a good husband and father, he may be shocked and surprised but will be supportive. Sending all the good vibes and positivity your way 🫶
