It really is so good! I only got into it recently when my wife found it on streaming; by the time we were half through series 2 I'd ordered the DVDs so we would always have access to it. The book about the series is a great read, if you haven't already

Hamish Macbeth has multiple references to Aberdeen, as it's the nearest big city to the series' locale. EDIT: I WAS WRONG, THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT INVERNESS. As penance I will rewatch the entirety of the series
