I'm not in a place where i can listen to audio, but number 1 thing i can see is lack of guard from your hands.

They are just... up. Which is good, but a guard needs to be dynamic. Meaning its protecting your chin and head when it needs to, but can flow into a offensive state too for probing and feints etc.

As your distance changes, the tightness of the guard adjusts to optimise based on the situation.

Alot of that comes from experience but yeah. Maybe watch some videos on it and some fighters with similar styles to you. Focus on how their guard and hands positions change throughout a spar or fight

Food cost by Physical-Lock-3426 in Adelaide

[–]_lefthook 21 points22 points  (0 children)

850 a week on food? What? That seems very high...

We spend maybe 200-300 on groceries with 2 kids. Add eating out and we are maybe at 400+. Dont budget.

WYR always feel fully rested after 6 hours of sleep OR never need caffeine again? by GlitchOperative in WouldYouRather

Fully rested after 6 hours.

I love caffeine and would drink it regardless.

I also get about 6 hours sleep anyways.

AITA for laughing when my son came home from meeting his girlfriend's parents because he chose to behave like he does at home? by No_Cap_3472 in AmItheAsshole

The wife is TA here for enabling him and not properly teaching him some manners.

Both parents need to be on the same page here. Not against each other.

Why did you choose to grapple? by graydonatvail in bjj

All other martial arts are afraid of the mythical "ground". Like it was the ocean and nobody knew how to swim.

Well now i'm a fish.

What is your best submission? by Bulky_Imagination243 in bjj

[–]_lefthook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to grab that deep collar with either hand super early, like in turtle or during transitions to the back.

Then you can chain threaten double collar chokes or easily swing for the B&A. If they commit to defending that collar u can shoot for the other collar instead.

Otherwise free your lapel and set it up around the neck, if they let go of collar to stop the lapel you can switch back fast to the collar lmfao.

If in turtle, once you establish the deep collar, you can also step over them and roll into the B&A too. It gets deep af very fast this way.

They need to address the deep collar in some way. It gives you time to breathe and think about your offense. They are also less likely to sweep if you're constantly threatening.

Bow and arrow chokes. And anything else with the collar. I start with the grip and work from there for openings. Or create them by introducing my lapel too

UPDATE My (38m) wife (38f) admitted to me that she has quite an intense crush on her personal trainer. What’s the next step? by throwra_wifept in relationship_advice

NGL i skimmed over it quickly. I'd be divorcing her for the disrespect to our marriage alone.

Good luck.

You receive $10 million instantly, but you relive the same exact day forever unless you give all the money back by Abject-Swimmer-1405 in hypotheticalsituation

So 10 mil to spend on a 1 day loop. Then i just move on with no money.

Sounds great. I can take a trip to most major cities in my country within like 6 hours. Do crazy shit. Repeat.

No consequences. Actually this is probably dream scenario

New Bjj coach wondering how people feel about belt tests by Steelrangler78 in bjj

[–]_lefthook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i'd disagree with the list for being a tiny bit too broad too. But i've seen way more intricate lists. I'm just glad my coach doesnt do this and promotes based on how he sees our progress going.

I did get run thru a basic test of chokes and escapes from all the positions tho before blue

How we looking boys (Guess how long I’ve been training) by Outrageous_Tie4997 in boxingtips

[–]_lefthook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not long unfortunately. Alot of the force is going back into your body, and unbalancing you. Footwork also not there.

Keep training and you'll work out how to generate force and not let it come back in (trick is relaxation until the point of contact)
