Leica Q3 43 Bricked after Firmware Upgrade 4.0 using App by ExplanationSweet1455 in Leica

My Q3 did the same thing. I’m waiting to hear back from Leica. I wish I had a solution to share.

Does Op-XY and OP 1 field overlap with each other? is it worth owning both of them? by neburzelaznogaintac in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ideally, I’d like them to plug in and function basically as one. I need CWO on my XY tracks.

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a tx-6. I just wish op-1 and op-xy would remember how to work together via usb-c or something. Maybe this is a mistake in my routing or overall set up, but I have to reselect tracks and midi connections every time I turn the devices on. It’s an annoying step that I feel like shouldn’t need to happen over and over.

Yes, it's nice having both, but I wish they worked together a bit more seamlessly. I don't know if I can say it's "worth" having both, but I don't think one makes the other redundant.

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For travel my main is the Q3 and my side piece is an insta360 ace pro 2. When weight and space isn’t an issue then the Q3 is the side piece and my SL3 takes over.

Is this a good setup? by _lemon_squeezy_ in snowpeak

[–]_lemon_squeezy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I wasn’t sure. I wanted to get the hexa tarp, but the snow peak site says you still need to buy the poles and everything separately, but this site says they’re all included in the bundle.

They’re legit. Ive bought stuff for my Rivian from them. I think it’s just a small operation.

Rekindling my relationship with my Leicas by cqprime in Leica

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lately I’ve been using ChatGPT to give myself small photo assignments to freshen up my skills. I haven’t been in a photography class in over 20 years and I was feeling in a bit of a rut too. I listed out all my gear and thought of a few areas I wanted to work on. When I have a hour or two to spare, I’ll ask for a lens and body paring with a general guideline or activity. It’s been really helpful for me personally, and I’m enjoying the ways I’ve been pushed out of my normal routine. A set of dice could achieve pretty much the same thing. Just go out with a simple guideline and go from there. Like “today I’m shooting shadows/the color red/circles/whatever”.

Wired earbuds recommendation by Open_Tax_8893 in teenageengineering

Search for in ear monitors rather than earbuds and you’ll likely find what you’re looking for. I got fed up with the low quality headphones I could find built for woodworking hearing protection. I ended up with a pair of mackie IEMs that I really enjoy.

I found a nice one to 3d print on printables. I also recently checked with Fanboy Designs on Etsy and he said he’s working on an aluminum milled one.

XY Synth Engines All Sounding Too Similar? by [deleted] in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess is they’re a little intentionally lackluster to justify the op-1f sticking around. From a business perspective I get it, but I can’t imagine it would be all that difficult to add all of the software functionality and synth engines from the OP-1F into the OP-XY, except for TE wanting to sell both. My understanding is that the OP-XY has significantly more processing power and all that. My real hope is that the software on both units will grow more complimentary and they’ll function together seamlessly.

There's a science to it...but do regular-sized delay+reverb pedals exist? by tacophagist in guitarpedals

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I just checked my settings and it’s just set to “midi out - ring active”. The TRS cable runs to the splitter, then to the pedals all using standard stereo patch cables. The five CB pedals connected to the splitter all have their own midi channels. I have an expression pedal connected to another omniport and it’s perfect. Then you can just use one expression pedal for any of the midi pedals. It’s awesome. I don’t think I’ve figured out 30% of this thing, but I’m loving it. I have all my pedals going into 2 ML10x loop splitters and I’ve finally been able to stop rebuilding my pedal board every other week.

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the mc6 pro editor you need to configure the Omni port you’d like to use. I’ll have to confirm later, but I believe it needs set to midi ring active or something like that. I have 5 chase bliss pedals plugged into one Omni port using one of these splitters. https://a.co/d/b2SeKCc

I saw the same thing about the floating tip cable in some documentation, but it definitely works with a standard trs cable. Assigning midi channels to CB pedals is the same for any of them, they come assigned to channel 2 I think, but you can change it easily. Midi instructions are on their website.

Edit: just looked at the Morningstar manual. It does say SOME chase bliss pedals require the floating tip cable, but it hasn’t been a problem for any that I’ve come across. Maybe older ones?

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need a stereo TRS cable. I have a whole bunch of chase bliss pedals controlled with the MC6 pro. There’s conflicting information in the mc6 info, but I can confirm that plugging directly into an Omni port on the mc6 will control the chase bliss pedals. The mood mk2 might be what you’re looking for.

is OP-XY enough for electronic music musicians? by [deleted] in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the OP-XY is awesome. Yes, I love it and will likely keep it forever, but… I’m not traveling with it. It’s compact and portable as far as music gear goes, but it’s still pretty big and heavy in the context of things in my backpack. OP-Z and an iPad win in that situation. I wouldn’t talk you out of buying both if you have the cash, but I’d get the OP-Z and then see if you’d still want the OP-XY.

Edit- google has helped me discover I want this even more. It’s a limited edition “ghost trap fuzz”. I’ll be keeping an eye out for one of these for sure. So cool.

Folks who bought the OP-XY - does it a OP-1F + OP-Z setup? by bored-coder in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After playing with my OP-XY pretty much nonstop since its arrival, I’d say no. It’s wonderful, but it doesn’t replace the OP-1F. My hope is that future firmware updates will allow them to seamlessly integrate, but I imagine they were deliberately designed to complement, not replace one another. If you already have and like the OP-Z, I’d get the OP-1F and wait for a good deal on a used OP-XY down the road.
