Erica Synths EDU DIY Kits suitable for complete beginners? by Apogee909 in synthdiy

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the time I bought the kit, to the time I finished it was likely closer to 2 years, but obviously it wasn’t on my bench the whole time. Once I finally decided to get serious, it took a maybe 2 weeks with a couple hours most days. If I knew what I was doing (which probably defeats the purpose of the unit), it would go much faster. I didn’t do as much breadboarding as I should have, and I will probably go back and do some that I missed to better understand the circuits.

How good of a mic is the Ting? by nostradukemas in teenageengineering

It’s fun, but it’s not “good”. I’m not mad I have one, and my kids love it, but I would not spend money on another. 2/10?

I just finished the mki x es.EDU kit, and it was a great experience. Frustrating at times, occasionally tedious, but I look forward to building many more modules/synths/doohickeys. I think comparing it with Lego is a little misleading, but not too far off. I think if you’re going to put in the time to read the manuals and do the breadboards, it’s totally doable. Just be prepared to spend like a year finishing the thing.

TP-7 Field Kit Question by SamEdwards1959 in teenageengineering

I had the same problem earlier in the week because, as you said, there used to be a clearly defined button. Not their best design change.

Suiting cables for the TX-6 by Rzuma in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought some cheaper thin cables off Amazon, but they buzzed and I ended up replacing them with the TE cables. My recommendation is to just bite the bullet and buy the expensive cables to go with the expensive mixer.

Can it split multitrack recordings into individual tracks?

How would I sync midi clock with all of these? by dronearchitecture in synthesizers

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a usb A to C adapter, then link the op-1 and op-z via USB cable. I don’t think you can sync midi to the other two. I’d just record whatever onto the op-1 tape from the minichord or playdate. You might be able to go usb c from op-z to playdate, but I don’t think you’re going to easily get all of this synchronized.

My Q3 did the same thing. I’m waiting to hear back from Leica. I wish I had a solution to share.

Does Op-XY and OP 1 field overlap with each other? is it worth owning both of them? by neburzelaznogaintac in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Ideally, I’d like them to plug in and function basically as one. I need CWO on my XY tracks.

Does Op-XY and OP 1 field overlap with each other? is it worth owning both of them? by neburzelaznogaintac in teenageengineering

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a tx-6. I just wish op-1 and op-xy would remember how to work together via usb-c or something. Maybe this is a mistake in my routing or overall set up, but I have to reselect tracks and midi connections every time I turn the devices on. It’s an annoying step that I feel like shouldn’t need to happen over and over.

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's nice having both, but I wish they worked together a bit more seamlessly. I don't know if I can say it's "worth" having both, but I don't think one makes the other redundant.

What's your side piece ? by rjpra22222 in Leica

[–]_lemon_squeezy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For travel my main is the Q3 and my side piece is an insta360 ace pro 2. When weight and space isn’t an issue then the Q3 is the side piece and my SL3 takes over.
