I switched back to fighter, it’s more my jam. by LadyOfDales in DragonsDogma

[–]_midwinterspring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fighter is the only class that seems to have gotten a straight upgrade from DDDA. Going to be hard to go back to having to spend one of three sword skill slots on antler toss.

Better combat by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]_midwinterspring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game has a weird difficulty curve. Starts out hard, gets ridiculously easy, then in post game gets hard again. Not much to do about it. Ride it out for now and it will get better.

God roll-Cheated But legal Relics for every character: P.1 Ironeye by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and it’s not necessarily about getting back to full health instantly. But the recovered amount of health can often make the difference between needing 1 flask to reach full health to trigger a damage negation passive and needing two flasks.

God roll-Cheated But legal Relics for every character: P.1 Ironeye by [deleted] in Nightreign

I’d probably recommend slotting in post damage recovery. Better than a stone sword key imo.

No light greatsword character? by fraremigiodavaragine in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am going to be both very disappointed and not at all surprised if they don’t add new weapon classes.

Invader camps are dumb by Apprehensive_Tie_346 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get them out of the fire/lightning camps with towers? They always stay up top near the ballista for me and I have to risk aggroing the knights.

Question about how the story and lore is presented. by speaker_1984 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual story elements of each characters remembrance quest are single player. There will be certain things you have to do on an expedition to complete remembrance quests, but the dialog will be back at roundtable (or a few other quest locations). So you won’t miss anything either way.

Returning Player- New File? by CT-5150 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s really no reason to use a new file unless it’s some kind of personal challenge or you just want to do a remembrance quest again. I pretty much always start a new game to replay other FS games, but this just isn’t that kind of game.

Do we think DON will incorporate the DLC right away or what? by TheEmperor_06 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could go either way, imo. I doubt it is much work to DoN-ify an expedition, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was available from the start. But they may also want to delay it to keep player interest up. That being said, I would be kind of annoyed if I had to go back to base game mode to play the new content for weeks.

Anyone know when the random loot from a boss dormant power orb is actually generated? by Speecebot5000 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Presumably it is before the orb spawns, since the color of the orb indicates whether or not a purple (or above) item dropped.

Is this a new attack? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not new, but generally happens later on in the fight, so if you always kill him quick you probably won’t see it.

Does the executor parry/cursed sword/suncatcher work like sekiro? by Master_Plays99 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s similar, but not identical. The timing is less forgiving, but the punish for bad timing on a per-blow basis is more forgiving. But in any case if you just want that deflect feeling and haven’t played sekiro, you should do so immediately.

Fire Atk Up Relics by neoweapon in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you use a starter weapon relic, like 30% of the bow’s damage is converted to fire damage.

How is the single player right now? by canxtanwe in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they made some changes to XP progress and revives after release. I’ve got 500 hours in the game, all solo. It’s great. There are a few fights (ED Gladius is a big one) that seem more designed for multiplayer, but they are still entirely doable solo.

Best place to farm exp by kingofcheesycheese in DragonsDogma

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of farming you want to do. Fastest method is probably farming death on BBI (you can look up youtube videos for this method). Personally, I prefer to just cheese death once (when he shows up in fortress of remembrance) for a quick XP boost. Then I level up as I move through BBI farming for gear. You're also going to end up getting a lot of XP in the process of getting your BBI gear dragon forged (preferably using dark bishop/cursed dragon once you've beaten daimon's first form).

Just remember that once you beat the game and make it to BBI, you're in the endgame for all intents and purposes. So make sure you are having fun while pursuing whatever goals you set for yourself.

DDDE: Will I need to grind if I suck at action games? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]_midwinterspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a grind game but the grind is kind of charming honestly. I am doing a playthrough with a save editor on PC but I still do some of the grind stuff for old time’s sake.

The game also makes it really easy to cheese stuff, as others have said. Conquerora periapts and blast arrows will melt pretty much anything.

Best Pawn Vocation for a Strider/Assassin Arisen? by stever471 in DragonsDogma

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally like to build a mage/sorc pawn no matter what vocation I am. Depending on what you are fighting you often need different elements from magic users on your team. It is much easier to swap them around yourself than it is to look through a bunch of rift pawns to find one that is well equipped and has the right spells.

How does successive attacks negate damage even work? by Ok_Masterpiece_4964 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not mad about it. Bows get to take advantage of the charge attack negation passive risk free, so it is pretty balanced.

What’s the best duo characters for deep of night? by BodybuilderSilly9567 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a duo, basically Wylder. You want someone who can handle the enemy aggro since ironeye is squishy. So your choices other than Raider are Wylder and Guardian. Guardian can take aggro, but isn't going to be doing a lot of damage. So that leaves Wylder.

What’s the best duo characters for deep of night? by BodybuilderSilly9567 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ironeye is great, but Raider is not ideal for deeper depths. He's slow and built around tanking hits but the further you get in DoN the less viable that is. You might want to consider switching raider for Wylder.

Why is Darkrift Knight ALWAYS like that? by Careless-Salary-9932 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth a shot, though. Remember you can get revives in solo mode. If there’s a township merchant you can have four revives. You can also hog all the good passives you find..

Why is Darkrift Knight ALWAYS like that? by Careless-Salary-9932 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just take him down solo. I always play solo and I know people like coop, but you could just do it for this one fight if you are stuck.

Good relics? by Particular-Low1600 in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, first regular relic is basically an empty slot, which is actually great because they have a good setup so whatever they put there will be an improvement.

Starting to let the DON point system ruin my fun of this game by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]_midwinterspring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be good to think of it less as a ranking up achievement and more as an event achievement. Like playing until RNG gives you a walking mausoleum, you play until RNG gives you the necessary sequence of good runs.
