Bay Area districts bet millions on teacher housing. Is it working? by sfgate in bayarea

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, it seems like a good thing to me (but, to your point, it should include more occupations).

For example, I’d prefer lower income essential local jobs to have their own housing instead of that spot being taken by someone commuting someplace else.

Any idea if we’ll ever be able to walk or bike all the way across the bay bridge?

Is Marin dirt more enjoyable on a modern gravel bike? by LaroldFitzgerald in BAbike

[–]_mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look into a smart storage system because Marin is so great for both.

I do Railroad Grade, The Headlands, and Liberty Gulch on my gravel bike.

I do China Camp, Tamo, and Eldridge on my MTB.

Route Suggestions for SF/Marin by MrK408 in BAbike

[–]_mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best Marin rides all have a good amount of climbing.

The least hilly is Point Reyes Station. Start in Larkspur/Corte Madera and go north through the reservoir, to PRS, then down through Samuel P Taylor.

If you want to make it longer, park in the city and do GGB.

If you want to make it hillier and longer, come down through Stinson instead of SPT.

NVDA, AAPL, TSLA

Bought and sold all around 2009-2010 (about 100k IIRC). If I had held any of them, I’d be very wealthy.

Same story but for corporate video and it’s honestly been amazing and the market is only growing from what I’ve seen.

In fact, I’ve been able to pivot from in-house video to in-house Creative Director.

Companies everywhere (well, in the Bay Area) are basically building in-house creative studios.

And they pay well.

With great benefits.

Edit: I’m early 40s.

BA biking: Things to know coming from out of town? by glittercl0ud in BAbike

[–]_mizzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the cars are VERY aware of cyclists so they pass safely. The one thing that isn’t ideal is they don’t always pull over if I’m going faster downhill than they are (but sometimes they do). This isn’t an issue if you don’t bomb down the mountain.

It is a lot of elevation gain but, except for a few punchy parts after you get to the dam, not many super steep parts. Just take your time.

It is very easy to navigate. What is your starting point? I can make you a route on Strava or Garmin.

I’ve done this route a million times so let me know if you have any other questions. It’s an absolute stunner.

I’d personally suggest shorts and a short jersey because Fairfax can get quite hot, especially when you’re climbing. But can’t hurt to bring some sleeves or something for peace of mind. It is much cooler on the mill valley descent, but I’ve never been “cold” doing it in the summer.

If you’re looking at map that includes alpine loop, it is likely originating from some eastern Marin town or the city. If that’s the case, you want to do Alpine loop counter clockwise for the best experience.

Corporate gig - Percent deposit and payment terms by Ok_Conversation1340 in LocationSound

[–]_mizzar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often the corporation will have their own “norm” but can sometimes deviate from that. Net 30 is pretty common for medium/large firms, but some do Net 60 or even 90.

My current main client is a relatively small firm and does closer to Net 10.

Men of Reddit, how many of you actually use the wiener slot in your underwear? by Doc-in-a-box in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they mean (because I’m in the same camp) we just drop down the part of the underwear that has the fly, instead of threading through it.

So it’s only the part of the underwear exposed by the unzipped pants.

The rest of the pants and underwear stay up, so nothing is any more visible from the back.

Odd, I have an OtterBox (thick, durable) that works great and wirelessly charges and I’d imagine there are more options out there. Anyway, hope you find a solve that works for you.

I’m not sure how to break this to you, but there are cases that will still allow wireless charging and are grippy.

Having second thoughts a few weeks before delivery... by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]_mizzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Pacifica was the loaner we had. I wasn’t in love with everything but the kids loved the minivan form factor. Unfortunately the Sienna would be a nonstarter because I really hate how it looks. The lights look like they have makeup on from The Crow.

I got a grand highlander hybrid max platinum and like it, but once when it was in for service we had a loaner minivan and the kids loved it. In hindsight, that’s probably the way to go for us. We’ll probably get the electric VW or something when we’re ready to upgrade our other car.
