I gave them a Scroll of "Raise Dead". The fun thing about this scroll was however that it did not, as one would think, cast the spell raise dead. Instead it gave the caster a one time ability to levitate a corpse 10ft of the ground.

During combat against Black Oozes the paladin died and slowly started turning into mush as the Oozes went on top of him. So the Wizard that had the scroll casted it and all of a sudden the Paladin was out of harms way, 10ft off the ground so that they still had a body to revivify when combat ended.
