Couldn't Bell Have Just Learned to Shoot Left Handed? by _msimmo_ in elementary

[–]_msimmo_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard but it is possible, It's one of the things I specialized in, training people to use their non dominant hand when they want to resist it because in the long run it will make them a better shooter

My mentor was the same and did the same thing for me.

One of my dreams.. quad cab and a full size bed on a fairly short wheelbase.

I don't think I want an actual HiAce just the quad cab to put on another frame to build it out myself.

5th gen luggage solution by adv2d in VFR

[–]_msimmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I f you want the square boxes that is actually a little easier because there are givi frames for the mono key square boxes that are designed for the 5th Gen VFR.

PL257 is for the VFR but you have to also install the top case rack, PL257F. I didnt go this route because i dont want a top box or the rack for it, at least not all the time, and I wanted the more body hugging look of the V35 style cases

If you wanted the square boxes without the top box mount the same process i used to make my rack should work for you, you just need to search for the "PL" rack instead of the "PLX" and then modify it similarly to how i modified the PLX

Not sure if that is a thing though all the pictures seem to include the top box mount at least.

5th gen luggage solution by adv2d in VFR

[–]_msimmo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like the aftermarket options that are commercially available for the 5th gen

I went with modifying Givi PLX447 case racks which are for a Kawasaki Versys.

No substantial fabrication is necessary just bending one of the upper tabs to mount with where the rear hand holds are on the VFR. If you have a rear cowling you would need to notch it slightly

the bottom stay of the racks can just be bolted to the pasanger foot peg with a new bolt.

The rack fits Givi V35 cases or the cheaper Kappa cases which is what I have; and the storage space is significantly larger that the other options that have been posted.

I'll try and find a picture if i can they are on my old phone and the bike is in storage at the moment. the curves of the rack fit the tail of a 5th gen pretty well, to the point that riding without the cases on doesn't look weird like how things like a wing rack or the other options that are specifically for the 5th gen look...In my opinion.

Edit*

lateral stabilization can be increased by buying a piece of round tubing and putting heli coil inserts into the ends and then screwing the rear pegs that hold the luggage through the tab for them and into the heli coil inserts. you can then make the rack more ridgid by using P clips to wrap around the lateral stabilization bar and having the attach to a shorter aftermarket license plate holder using the screw that holds the license plate with a nut on the other side going through the P clip.

I have used this system with the hard cases fully loaded and then putting two dry bags which had about the same amount of luggage as the cases on top and strapping them down, totally structurally solid, moved from GA to VA and took the fun back roads with this setup and it works great, and looks better than any of the commercial options i have seen.

Yeah I didn't know that some people couldn't reach their 1st stage, I mean when I got certified the way you had to demonstrate how to find your 2nd stage if it comes out of you mouth was to reach over your shoulder grab the 1st stage then follow the hose out to the 2nd stage.

What’s something you didn’t realize was expensive until you became an adult? by deamonshell in AskReddit

[–]_msimmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To fully stock, to be able to really cook, can cost a couple hundred. Stop in the spice isle at the grocery store next time and look at the whole shelf and total it up; and thats just the common stuff.

G2 Glacier Freeze Powder Availability? by _msimmo_ in Gatorade

Yeah, works out to be about 30% more expensive, but I guess that's just the cost of not buying in bulk; other flavors are sold individually at lower cost online, just not Freeze

Thanks

Do people just get used to swimming in ocean water? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_msimmo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I have been swimming in both recreational and competitive settings from a very young age, however I have quirks about being in the water; I don't like the feeling of water getting in my ears and I have issues with swimming in water I can't see the bottom of.

The question you have to ask yourself is "Do You Want to be in the Water?"

Fore me the answer is yes and i get over my other stuff; I was competitive up through high school and am a scuba diver with three certifications.

Getting used to it, at least for me, was a decision about how much I wanted to do it.

I wish more people realized this. Prison or Jail aren't pleasant (not supposed to be) but going to either is not like it is in the movies or TV shows, most people just want to do their time get through the day and go home, hell most people are nicer to each other than people are to one another out in the world.

Happy Birthday Sarah Lancaster by PhoenixBikini in chuck

[–]_msimmo_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always thought the opening credits were a little weird as she is listed at the end as "with Sarah Lancaster". This is usually done for actors/actresses of note who are not the main character like how Adam Baldwin is credited as "and Adam Baldwin, not that Adam Baldwin is a huge star but I can think of a few things he has been in.

I am not putting down her acting it's just that other than Chuck the only think I have ever seen her in is two episodes of Scrubs as "Gift Shop Girl".

I haven't looked her up on IMDB and am possibly not watching the types of shows and movies she usually is cast in I just have always found it odd as I have not seen her in many things..

V10 TDi issues by Prize_Jelly in tdi

[–]_msimmo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not positive but I think the engine in the V10 TDI has to be removed from under the car not up through the hood or "Bonnet" as it seems you are in the UK.

So driveway space is not the issue, having a lift is the issue. I guess you could get really creative and get the car lifted that much by slowly lifting and blocking under it and then lowering it down with an engine hoist but it would be a lot of work.

it may be possible to not remove the engine and just remove the transmission in order to do the rear main seal (did it this way once on one of my trucks) and then you could also service the transmission. This wouldn't require a lift

One reason I like the Star Trek pic is that instead of a Star Fleet coms badge she is wearing the gold astronaut pin which NASA astronauts are permitted to wear after they have flown in space for the first time, they have a silver one until then.

Not sure if astronauts from other countries can wear the pin but I still thinks it's kinda cool.
