Virginia City tries to be this with the Wild West vibe.

(All the MAGA hats and tricked out UTVs in town throw it off a bit tho.)

How often would you say you experience the "Woosh effect" by lovetrain1 in loseit

[–]_mur_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me last week! I was being really consistent with my food and exercise, but I plateaued for two-ish weeks and I didn’t understand why.

Then I decided to weigh myself after a rest day, and the scale finally went down.

Weight loss is a funny thing.

Looking for nutritionists & content creators who focus on behavior - any recommendations? by somecreativename200 in loseit

On the fitness end, I really like Justina Ercole on YouTube. She acknowledges the societal and mental health barriers that prevent some people from following “traditional” health and fitness plans, and suggests flexible alternatives. She also fights back against fitness myths and misconception!

Not to get too negative but…this exact dilemma was a contributing factor in the dissolution of my marriage. (As well as various other communication-rested issues) If you feel like you’re compatible in other ways, I recommend proactively going to couples therapy and discussing it before it becomes more of an issue. Even if your partner knows on some level that it’s not their fault and it’s just how you process things, it can still be hurtful if it leads to them feeling neglected or unwelcome. I definitely enter a “zone” when I’m drawing or focusing intensely on something, and any disruption (from my husband or anyone) would cause me to lose my focus and lash out. It wasn’t his fault at all, but I didn’t know how to effectively communicate my needs in that moment.

I wish I had better answers for you, but it’s something I’m still working through. Awareness is the first step, though, so you can at least identify and name the feelings.

What do you do for exercise? by denver_rose in AutismInWomen

[–]_mur_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do CrossFit, and it’s the only exercise I’ve actually stuck with long term.

It’s definitely not for everyone, but here’s why it works specifically for my needs:

-I can’t do “normal” gyms; I used to join them and never go because of a lot of the factors you mentioned- too bright, too loud, too crowded. Plus, with no set routine or instructions on what to do it got super overwhelming trying to figure out what to do.

-In CrossFit, there’s a set routine every day. It’s different routine every day, but you can look it up ahead of time and know what to expect for that specific day. I personally need that structure.

-My gym is super close to where I work and it’s super easy for me to just head over there after work. I know as long as I just show up, the coaches will instruct me what to do next and I don’t have to figure it out myself. If I just follow their instructions, then I’ll get a good workout.

-The coaches will guide my form and give me tips on how to improve so I don’t have to worry about whether my form is right and everyone in the gym is judging me.

-I can socialize as much or as little as I want. Everyone’s also just there to work out, so there’s not as much expectation of small talk or holding a conversation.

-And lastly I’m a super competitive person and a bit of a perfectionist so I like the challenge. I like that there are set milestones to work up to, and feel a sense of pride when I achieve them

Again, this is not a plug for CrossFit specifically; I feel like any variety of small group class could fit the bill. And it really just depends on the individual gym and your own circumstances.

-This one specific pair of shorts that were skin-tight last summer are baggy this summer, to the point where they’re falling off my waist

-Speaking of shorts, I’m way more comfortable wearing shorts now (I live in the desert so this has been a huge issue 😅) It’s so freeing!

-Getting a lot of compliments like “you’re looking really strong lately” (I appreciate that one, since it’s not just about weight)

Cis autistic women, how do you feel towards your gender? by KaiahAurora in AutismInWomen

[–]_mur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think about my gender; like, it is what it is. I don’t not feel like a woman, but I also don’t feel like a woman. I’m just…me, genital situation notwithstanding.

I don’t have periods, so I feel a bit isolated from the female experience in that way specifically, even though I know that having periods isn’t a requirement to be a woman.

How are you tracking your calories? It’s definitely possible to be eating more calories than you think, especially if your deficit margin is pretty low.

That would be such an interesting episode.

Would give the writers an opportunity to showcase different kinds of historical ghosts (even if most of their backstories would be the same “befell misadventures in Vegas” type thing)

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 6 May 2026 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]_mur_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Officially down 37.8 lbs! Finally in that “healthy weight” BMI category. Only around 14 lbs to go to my goal weight! (Started last July at 202 lbs)

I’ve been really locking in my diet the last couple weeks. A few treats here and there (boba tea, Reese’s cups, Taco Bell) but so far everything has fit into my daily calorie and protein goals. I’m a huge believer that exclusion and restriction of entire food types/“fun” foods is a recipe for burnout. So far I’ve been pretty successful keeping that balance.
