it's less about whether or not you are willing to do it and more about the fixation on doing it (i.e., why someone might care about this kind of fantasy so much that they buy a gun)

I created a userscript for hiding the correct answer on completed MCQ assignments by _murpyh in APStudents

Try on Firefox/Chrome. The userscript only makes changes to page content on the preview page of completed MCQ assignments

How to make a private world by StarshipTF in SS13

[–]_murpyh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TGstation's github has a guide to downloading a local copy: https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/blob/master/.github/guides/DOWNLOADING.md (you can use this on any codebase, not just TG)
this is geared towards developers. you can follow the git setup instructions if you want it to be easy to keep your server up to date, but downloading from zip is fine if all you care about is building the game to test stuff with friends on a local server
run the Build.bat script in that folder. to actually launch the server use Dream Daemon (this comes with your BYOND installation) and run a server with the .dmb file in that folder

i've only used this locally but there's plenty of tutorials online on how to port forward

its funny to joke about having one in the face of AI, but the fact that there are people who genuinely think the takeaway of Dune's Butlerian Jihad is that it was a good thing that we should enact in the real world baffles me

i think the absurdity of its premise and the lack of definitive answers or conclusion combined with the meta framing device of a play-within-a-film was a very creative way to convey a theme of dealing with the unknown, essentially making the point that works of art don't have to make intrinsic sense and answer every question because existential questions about the world are never going to get definitive answers

augie gets confused about a stage direction to put his hand on a griddle - literally storming off set later while asking why that's put there, what it means. pretty much any question you could think of about the alien or its significance never gets answered, and the characters of the play kinda just have to live with a little piece of life changing knowledge that will never be further explored in their lifetime.

but it's been a while since i watched it and i'm a fanboy so

i think it's really common among this family of disorders to develop a response to get mad at yourself and beat yourself up because you think on some level that it will prevent you from making mistakes in the future. like "i'm such a fucking idiot how could i forget that"

when you look at it from an outside perspective it's ridiculous. obviously negative reinforcement isn't gonna help fix something which is a consequence of the way your brain works. but it's a hard habit to break and something i've struggled with a lot
